Why is reducing a person down to only one word denigrating and wrong, but describing and even defining characters in a story using a single word or trope commonplace and accepted?

anxiety, dumb feelings about Patreon
And so, I get a feeling that unless I have enough money to become a patron and pay them, I probably shouldn't bother them, even if just to leave a message of support or ask a question about their work...
I don't know if anybody would even be upset if they got a message from somebody like me who they didn't already know and who wasn't paying them, but I feel like it's possible they would be, so I don't bother saying anything...

At least I had a very good night of pinball tonight. ^^ https://awoo.space/media/lXSdBvhqVRVnR2kgyME
I always come away with ideas for games but no actual games. :\
Maybe I actually should give up making them at all... I've thought about it many times when I've been depressed and frustrated...
This guy's amazing. I know just enough music theory to be uncertain whether or not he's joking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnBr070vcNE
That's almost certainly above what I could personally manage, though, since making pictures move around in a window or text show up on a screen is difficult for me to accomplish...
For Ludum Dare, maybe a game about somebody who stays at home most (or all) days, does chores and takes care of everybody living there (when they can manage), whose connection to the outside world is, at most, their computer and internet connection and any roommates they might have, and their day-to-day life, watching how it unfolds and how they live in the small world of their own home...
