@monorail You weren't named Holly when you started writing it either, were you?

@fribbledom Either it's cold outside, or someone put your sensor in a refrigerator.

@monorail I'm glad my initial thought of how to do it aligns with how professionals thought to do it, then!

@monorail I imagine they're probably a bit less smart than that, and probably just look for anything different than normal in the relevant lane. You want it to work for motorcyclists too, after all.

@monorail It's cheaper to install, since you only need one camera mounted in a convenient location instead of a loop of wire embedded under the road, but it requires more computing power than was readily available until recently.

@monorail I think some of them work via image processing.

@cozykaffe@snouts.online Maybe I'm just bad at noticing reposts, or I just miss enough of your posts that I don't see them sometimes.

@cozykaffe@snouts.online How _do_ you get all those wonderful pictures, anyway? You always seem to have a bunch of lovely photos of adorable creatures ready to show, and you rarely seem to repeat them. Do you take the pictures yourself?

@brainblasted It's almost as though they never meant for forking it to be a feasible option in the first place.

re: sona design and horny

@monorail Well, your feet _are_ larger than most.

@cozykaffe@snouts.online If earth wasn't earthlike, that would be cause for rather significant alarm.

Completed the demo of Dragon Quest XI. Definitely looking forward to the full release; shame I have to wait a month for it.

re: to the tune of gato's song from chrono trigger

@typhlosion This actually fits the song better than the actual english lyrics do. Though that isn't a very high bar to pass.

@Terrana@tootplanet.space Yes, but electricity ultimately comes from the greek elektron, which means amber.

@Terrana@tootplanet.space From this, I would assume electrode means "way amber"?

re: The Gear Wars

@Motodrachen This is going over my heads again, I'm afraid.

re: The Gear Wars

@Motodrachen How do you change which gears are engaged to the shaft, though? What I'm getting from this is that you need to have one of the three gears connected to the input shaft, one to the output shaft, and one fixed in place, but how do you rearrange all that with so little room to work, without having far too many moving parts for any semblence of reliability?

@Motodrachen If you don't mind explaining something I'm having trouble understanding, since this seems like your area of expertise: Something I've never understood is how exactly changing gears works in them. Everything I can see just says "it's just using planetary gears" in the same way you might say "it's just using magic"; I don't follow how planetary gears allow you to do anything regular gears don't, except perhaps having concentric input and output shafts.
