Today was a long day. I think we're going to take it easy this evening.

I suppose technically, pepperoni is a type of salami.

Is it essential to play the Kingdom Hearts games in order if you want to understand the story? I'm finding 1 difficult, and Chain of Memories is hard to even get into.

Would a despicable person from the Minoan civilization be a Cretan cretin?

The guzheng, a Chinese relative of the more famous Japanese koto, is a beautiful instrument. I was just shown this piece of music featuring it: youtube.com/watch?v=IxM1tjTvFA

It's disappointing, in a way, that Disney's Hercules has Hades as the villain. I know why they did it; the major modern religions tend to associate the underworld with evil. But still, Hades was probably the most pleasant person out of the Greco-Roman pantheon. Everyone else was a jerk, self-obsessed, or just straight up a serial rapist, but Hades seems like an actually thoughtful and kind person.

What is it about the games Rogue, Doom, and Diablo that got whole genres named after them? Doom-likes later came to be known as FPSs, but still, we never had a "Final Fantasy-like" or "Mario-like" genre. And both of those are unquestionably influential games!

@esp@sleeping.town Felthry may not have wanted it, but I just started playing the first Kingdom Hearts and I might want that plot summary. Do you have ones for individual games, or just for the full series?

Humanity has somehow managed to count up to 2019. That doesn't sound too impressive, but have you ever tried to count thousands of things without losing count even once? Try counting the number of grains of rice in your bowl next time you have a rice dish.

Statistics is hard enough before you get into quantum statistics, and then the concept of indistinguishable particles just throws conventional statistics out the window.

I wonder just how badly the Hero of Winds messed up the weather in the Great Sea?

A culinary challenge that just came to mind: Find a good way to combine Asian-style noodle dishes with Italian-style pasta dishes, in a way that feels only minimally forced and doesn't taste weird.

One of the protagonists of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, Lyn, uses a sacred sword called the Mani Katti. A katti appears to be a type of sword exclusively found in the Fire Emblem universe, as there are other unique weapons called the Sol Katti and the Vague Katti.

re: food

Well, salami and cheese and pesto, at least. And I added some black pepper too, because despite being labelled genoa salami, this salami has no pepper in it.

re: food

Though what I'm eating right now is just a salami and cheese sandwich, because we don't have any ham at the moment. We need to get some.

Adding a little pesto to almost anything vaguely Italian improves it. Pasta and pizza are obvious, but it's also a great addition to a ham and salami sandwich.

Oh dear, I probably should have put a food CW on those. One moment.
