CoC Draft #1: Preamble
I'm writing a CoC!
The idea behind the CoC I'm trying to write is to communicate as much as possible about conduct in a space (online or off) as succinctly as possible. The model I've chosen for this is a CoC whose headlines and first line of descriptive text fits inside a single Masto post and can be skimmed to get the general idea in half a minute or less. The idea behind this is to make the CoC short and easy to remember and recall.
The first draft of my CoC follows.
CoC Draft #1
@mawr Seems okay to me, but I still hearken back to the days of "Be excellent to each other" and "Don't break the place" being the only rules needed. n..n;
@Soreth @mawr @xurnami I would argue that it still _can_ work, but it requires a level of emotional intimacy and shared contet that limits the size of events and communities. Families don't typically need codes of conduct, f'rex, but pre-nuptual agreements still happen.
I'm not sure the broader community collectively shares the necessary context and intimacy. I don't think we've had it since before the Slack diaspora, and I suspect we lost it some time before that.
