@lioness The instance I'm on does whitelisting. Other instances need to apply to be federated with it.

It works out pretty well, I'm able to comfortably view the Federated timeline most of the time. So far most of my mutes have just been some bots that I personally found annoying.

@BeanCatteAgain@chitter.xyz I remember a former friend who was a self-proclaimed "security expert" because he had done stuff with encryption and obfuscation back in the 80s and 90s.

He seriously claimed that a plaintext message could be secured against spoofing with a password that was also in plaintext.
