I have once again discovered that something I was doing that I thought was helping was actually doing more harm than good.
The thing I was doing was taking melatonin before bed. As it turns out, melatonin can cause anxiety, is not effective for insomnia, and has an interaction with blood thinners.
The underlying cause of my sleep issues has been anxiety, but I'm taking buspar for that.
Anyways, this discovery was spurred on by me sleeping better than normal last night and then realizing that I forgot to take my melatonin. The a small research binge followed.

covid exposure
Okay, so my state has some services for disabled people, which my mother uses. One of these services is that we have someone come in every tuesday to do cleaning. Back in august though, our cleaning lady was out for a few weeks because she said a teacher at her child's daycare tested positive for covid, so she was quarantining herself.
Also around this time, my mother had increasing trouble breathing, and every time she had to get up to go the bathroom or to bed, my brother and I had to turn her oxygen machine up to max, and once she sat back down we had to wait a few minutes while her blood oxygen levels recovered. She said back then that if it got any worse she would need to go to the hospital. But she got better, thankfully.
Today, while the cleaning lady was here, she said that she had tested positive for covid back in august. This means that she quite possibly may have given us covid before she tested positive. If my mother had not gotten vaccinated she would be dead.
Plus, but as I was typing this post I just remembered that back in august my brother was worried because I seemed to be out of breath, but I downplayed it because I do that with my health problems. So, I probably had it as well.
@Xenoclaws This is my dog, Tazer. She is a mix of yellow lab and red heeler, and is much nicer than her name implies!

@AshBunny the short version? A longstanding anxiety of mine just suddenly vanished. Almost like a switch in my brain got turned off?

"New molecules were discovered during the project [examining the antidiabetic activities of Cree medicinal plants]. Our research group sat down with community members and together discussed the meaning and implications of patenting and other avenues. Cree people felt that patenting was culturally inappropriate and, in the spirit of helping as many diabetics as possible, indicated that a publication would be best, which the team did. Through that publication, and in respect to the Awashish family that was very supportive of the project and also in memory of the late Sam Awashish, the new molecule received their name, awashishnic acid."
