@gamehawk Ugh! People. I can hate on the house sparrows and starlings crowding the feeders as much as the next cranky homeowner, but come on. They're trying to scratch out a living as much as me or any Bluebird. Bygones, already.

@gamehawk Especially the females and the juvenile males! Drab, drab, drab. They really need to smash the patriarchy and seize the means of pigmentation.

I'm working this week in an office building that's part of a way-overdeveloped series of malls in the burbs. Turns out there's this Nature Conservancy on the edge, and I took a walk there on my lunch. Saw:
Eastern kingbird
American goldfinch
Killdeer
Great blue heron
Egret
Sparrow sp *
Buteo sp
Ringbill gull
Dabbling duck sp
Kingfisher
Barn swallow
* "sp" = "some damned species." When I see a sparrow, or a duck, I feel very smart that I know it's not a chicken, or pterodactyl.
masto-history help please?
@Krall Ooh, I hadn't seen that one yet, and you're the first to suggest it. Thank you!
masto-history help please?
@maloki I think I'm good for my current purposes, thanks! After this deadline is past, I'll find a moment to collect these into a blog post. Thanks again!
masto-history help please?
@indi @sarahjeong Nope, you're the first! I can't believe how the memories are coming back as the items are named. Thank you!

@kit Yes! I recall Hart's post now. Here is another that appeared on Medium, by Richard J. Anderson: https://www.sanspoint.com/archives/2017/04/07/mastodon-a-different-way-to-think-about-social-media/

@thefishcrow For this project, I'm restricted to published sources (including non-peer-reviewed web pieces). But, wouldn't it be a good idea for someone to solicit interviews and write up a summary?

(And if those of you with more followers could boost the request, I'd love it. Thanks again.)
