A good chunk of Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon are all on fire. The smoke has accumulated over Seattle.
This is the sun. This is ash falling from the sky. This is...heckin' creepy, honestly.
Second time this summer.
@ElectricKeet Well yeah.
For some reason this morning, I've got the Lavos theme song in my head.
@emanate Bleh. We're only getting a fraction of that down in the SF Bay, and it's been wrecking me pretty bad. Be careful over there!
@coyoteseattle I'm at least inside with a/c all day, though I did have to travel through this a little. :-P
@emanate Time to get a nice, stylish gas mask with electroluminescent accents, it sounds like. :p
@coyoteseattle I do have a breathing/dust mask thing, but it's still got playa dust on it from a decade ago. :-)
I am reminded of the images of the same area in... 1980? When Mt. St. Helens erupted
Not quite as much ash this time but still effing scary and bad for the lungs. Protect them!
@ThatDamnCat Yeah, I've seen other folks mentioning that eruption too. That sounded real scary to have been living up here at that time.
(I was in California then, and only a few months old.)
@emanate @ThatDamnCat I was 9, in California. I remember seeing pictures of the eruption, and of a town downwind getting *coated* in ash, like two feet deep, and then reading an article that showed how the ash from the eruption would blow eastward all the way around the world, but by the time it came back around to California it'd be so dispersed it'd only be detectable chemically, and being kind of disappointed. XD
@emanate I find it really pretty!
. . . even if it does remind me of all those dreams I have about living through the apocalypse. 🙀
