Woo; Internal Reorganization (~)

Over the last few years, I've started slowly identifying myself and my life with the mix, to the point where I've started to chart my progress--out of depression, anxiety, and bad situations--by way of comparing them to tracks in the latter half of the mix.

Somehow, I've finally reached the end of that long tangled route.

But then, so had the person I was during most of it. The dragon.

Context the first:

There was one of my mixes I'd been needing to experience again. (see awoo.space/@emanate/1486294 ). Thursday evening, I decided to do it.

In the last few years I've been pulling back out of a very dark place. The mix in question, Spiral Light Collapse, modeled a similar process--perhaps too similar. Except I made the mix /before/ all the events happened that seemed to mirror it.

It was an accidental hypersigil.

Well that didn't take long.

It was, like most of my woo, both expected and entirely by surprise, attached to what I thought was an unrelated ritual. Then again, my 'rituals' never quite have a specified result, for this reason.

This was a good thing, but a big change. I...closed out a nearly decade-long accidental hypersigil, and one of my main selves retired, leaving space for another.

You probably want some context.

It's been a while since I played Rez.

A friend bought me Rez Infinite, and I sat down and played some.

Area 1, I....think I got the highest score I've ever gotten. 100% on everything. [Tera] boss. O.o

And then I played Area X, and it was beautiful. <3

I want to start a video game over except the player character would be a stuffed animal instead of some angry shooter dude.

A few quick Bandcamp picks for today:

Dreamrider by Lazerhawk. lazerhawk.bandcamp.com/album/d
Deliciously chill synthwave stuff that feels dreamy like a cool breeze across an ocean at sunset.

Beyond the Infinite by OGRE & Dallas Campbell

An instrumental album done in analog synths that completely rescores the entire 135-minute soundtrack to 1968's film 2001.
Yes, really. Haven't tried it yet, but it should be good. <3

Shiver of nostalgia up along the spine.

My favorite part of traveling to California this weekend:

Friday afternoon was so clear, I was able to see Mt Rainier, Mt Adams, Mt St Helens, and Mt Hood all at the same time, from the plane. It was beautiful!

Meanwhile in Seattle:

Water from the sky?! What is this madness! It's been so long, I almost forgot what this could happen!

(No seriously it's drizzling here and it's been nearly a month since any came down. Yes, this does happen even in Seattle. :-) )

I was just asked: "Would you sell your pants for otter paws?"
I replied (because what else could I say): "Hell yes! I'd just wear skirts instead!"

@emanate It's in the nature of my ADHD that when something like that is happening, even if it's not to me, I can't stop listening in. It grabs me and I can't get away from it. -_-

Racist asshole

That was...difficult.

Old angry black guy in the bus tunnel, yelling at an asian guy to get out of a seat so he could sit down. Then yelling racial shit at the asian guy like how Hiroshima and Nagasaki were faked.

He got on the same bus. I yelled at him on the way past "shut the fuck up". If...only to give him a different target. Maybe that was braver than calling security, but they probably wouldn't do anything.

Now he's arguing to everyone else on the bus anyway. >_<

All this chatter the last day or so about birds being dominant in this one particular world setting... and I find this on my RSS feed this evening: tor.com/2017/07/13/five-books-

Ambitious birds, indeed.

(cc @syka @literorrery @kauko @daniramone33 )

(Also @syka I was highly amused to discover that yes, your bird naming scheme /did/ come from that avian species name list in Stellaris. :-D )

I'm not sure if it's just me being paranoid about mobile clients dropping toots, but I'm finding it hard to believe there were no new toots in the last hour.
Down for maintenance?

bodyfeels continued

@emanate So...I've basically swapped phantom kobold tail for phantom tailfeathers and wings. Shapeshifting, whee.
Still more of a toy emulating a bird. Worrying that I never get the beak quite right.

(As a note, this phantom appendage stuff doesn't actually happen to me very often, but it's always amusing when it does. )
