@spiderrobotpig@witches.town it sounds like a lot of fun! Wish there were a neat way to play the decks against each other (for me MTG is about deck building, the actual playing of a game should be deterministic based on the deck), over the internet? With chess you can be like "Knight to e4" or something.

Re: slivers - they are just impossibly overpowered and the only way to really beat them is with another sliver deck or a deck specifically designed to beat slivers.

Oh I just found my decks!

@spiderrobotpig@witches.town I have no idea how effective it would be. But I find it interesting to see different strategies. I have two decks: a sliver deck that's very effective but no fun for anyone, and a more interesting card draw and mana deck with some heavy hitters. All legacy now though. Haven't actually played for many years. So I don't know anything about current sets or rules.

@spiderrobotpig@witches.town wow I'm really out of touch with MTG; don't recognise any of those except "forest" and "swamp".

Looks horrifying enough though :)

Pollitics

@Finnarchist@cybre.space the problem is that you still have to pay the taxes of the host nation, and any money you receive counts against any benefits you might receive from the host nation.

Also there's the problem of self selection, the people who generally want to be part of a more social state, are the ones who need more help.

Maybe there is a way though.

About hentai/porn

@CobaltVelvet Everything I've read so far suggests that drawn/animated child porn is perfectly legal (in Japan).

"The new law does not include the banning of anime and manga that feature explicit scenes of children, after lawyers and publishers argued that censoring the materials would curb free speech."

About hentai/porn

Wondering why hentai is almost all child porn, I went investigating. Wikipedia offered some interesting facts about Japanese censorship law which:
"forbids the publication of obscene materials. Specifically, depictions of male-female sexual intercourse and pubic hair are considered obscene, but bare genitalia is not."

So... were they like "I know who doesn't have pubic hair: prepubescent children; let's depict them having sex with tentacle monsters! That's much less obscene."?

Just discovered itch.io, a distributor of indie, mostly DRM free games (and many free/gratis as well).

The killer feature for me is the app for one-click installing games on Linux 😍

@creatrixtiara I only recently realised that all the noise around net neutrality is a US thing, but when people rant about it, they don't add that as context, so I thought it was about the internet generally. I've never heard about it in connection with the UK.

I assume net neutrality is good, but I haven't really looked into it.

@Finnarchist@cybre.space heh okay. I have no idea!

Last boost from @secretgarden@botsin.space was part of a trade in Minecraft (thislandmcserver.weebly.com). I give @setavulos@cybre.space An unspecified quantity of gunpowder in exchange for an artisanal imoji garden with a Special Visitor.

This is part of a long history of unusual trades, for example:
All the gold I had (~45 blocks) for The Promise Of A Chicken To Come.

@Finnarchist@cybre.space can we select from a list of topics?

Capitalism, workers and automation

@acetone_kitten yes of course!

I couldn't figure out how to fit all of this nuance into one toot, while still getting my point across.

Capitalism, workers and automation

This idea that wealth is produced by workers (mastodon.social/users/Gargron/), is outdated, erases people with disabilities who can't work, and is proven false/unhelpful/incomplete by the rise of automation youtube.com/watch?v=7Pq-S557XQ
What will the 'workers' say when they are no longer needed because their jobs are now done by machines?

Don't base your entitlement to material wealth on the fact that you work.

@tiden yeah Redox is by no means ready for use.

I've just accepted that there are no good operating systems (maybe MacOS?) currently, and it's merely a matter of choosing between various sets of problems. I run Linux because it's problems annoy me less than windows Mac and BSD problems.

technology opinions

@tiden have you read this excellent and thorough list of Linux problems?

I hope redox-os.org turns out better.

in on @cassolotl@cybre.space's server (thislandmcserver.weebly.com), I've just gotten an epicly long and challenging project (youtube.com/watch?v=cOD_btn0dt) to the point where it's yielding results.

Only 2.5% of it's intended output, but I'm SO PROUD.

Same project at an earlier stage: cybre.space/users/cassolotl/up
