at volunteer training yesterday I had A DONUT (with appropriate medication cushioning so I wouldn't have the OMFG GLUTEN collapse). and this morning I have cold symptoms. I know it's not a cold; it's a reaction to eating A DONUT. but I'm supposed to volunteer today, and now I have to ask them if I shouldn't come in because I might get the critters sick. :P

@mawr as someone who used to live in Oakland, CA, I have complete empathy with this feeling. :|

@kara_dreamer@witches.town fortunately, for me he's been an extremely patient deity, because I'm terrible about keeping promises even to gods. >___< on the other hand, he heartily approves of writing, including fiction, so the more I write the happier he is. ;)

@kara_dreamer@witches.town I'm pretty sure I'm older than both of them put together, and that my dedication to Djwty is older than either of them. :P

@kara_dreamer@witches.town they started off with "how's this weather for you?" and then gradually (suddenly) segued (completely derailed) the conversation to "say can we talk to you about our lord and savior?" and I was like "NOPE GOING OVER THERE TO BUY SOMETHING TO DRINK." I might have actually chatted with them about religion if I hadn't been hot, thirsty, footsore, and tired after several hours of volunteer training. ;)

OH AND several juvenile crows, a couple of squirrels, and a turtle. evidently the turtles need to have their shells cleaned, very carefully and delicately, because they have some kind of fungus, also they're endangered. I hope I get to do that at some point. :D

after I was done with volunteer training and waiting for the bus a couple of Kids On Bikes In Suits stopped and tried to chat me up for their religion. I told 'em "nope, not interested, plus I'm already taken," but didn't elaborate. :P

@emanate nope, the PAWS wildlife center! https://www.paws.org/wildlife/ tomorrow I get to go back and do my first shift as a volunteer there. dunno what I'll be doing--probably lots of cleaning and mixing food/formula, but I was also told that the second seasonal batch of baby squirrels usually show up around August, and that I'll have "baby squirrels coming out my ears." sooo that'll be fun! XD

@mawr @mxsparks I gave somebody my copy of Ancillary Justice to borrow and read, and never got it back, and now I can't remember who I gave it to, which happens quit a bit with me, so I have to get it again and re-read it because YES. SO GOOD. <3

wooo I went and did the thing today! they have bear cubs and bobcat cubs and a baby seal, and I got to see baby opossums and raccoons and a scrub jay (who was EXTREMELY IRATE that we were NOT GIVING IT FOOD), and glimpsed a juvenile bald eagle, and made formula for deer fawns. and tomorrow I start on my scheduled shift of Friday afternoons! :D

wrote a WoW RP story. it made me tear up several times. now I need a title so I can post it to the RP guild's forums, and I'm terrible at coming up with titles. WAUGH.
