public Nazis, ethics, doxing, question

@vahnj *nodnodnod* this all makes very good sense, thank you!

public Nazis, ethics, doxing, question

@vahnj this is exactly the kind of information/discussion I'm looking for. I was thinking about the people that did the torchlight mob-march and were later identified and fired, and about the dicks being public Nazis in Seattle but covering their faces, and trying to navigate the smartest, most effective *and ethical* thing to do.

public Nazis, ethics, doxing, question

@abbenm unless your comment is more "but we need to discuss why Nazi stuff is bad!" which is um, well, no, we really don't. XD

public Nazis, ethics, doxing, question

@abbenm yep. after the "lol we can be Nazis in public and not wear masks or anything!" led directly to "qq why are we getting fired/having family members disown us/being publicly reviled?" it's been interesting to note how those willing to do Nazi shit in public have also become much less willing to be easily identified. I'm thinking of a guide to non-confrontationally documenting public Nazi behavior for subsequent identification and shaming.

@guerrillarain@witches.town I haven't gotten any ink since I moved to Seattle... aside from having a tattoo-crush on Vyvyn (who I will *never* be able to afford madamelazongastattoo.com/ *whine*) I haven't even looked around much, though I will have to when I come home; I have one that's been on hold for far too long and now another one I want desperately. XD

public Nazis, ethics, doxing, question

serious question to which I would like serious discussion/answers: is it ethical to dox Nazis? like, taking pictures of the Seattle Nazi crew (and their cars, and their buddies), posting them to the internet, finding out where they live/work and posting that to the internet, that kind of thing?

I'm fine with Nazi-punching, and in practice doxing has worked to silence them. I'm curious what y'all think on the subject.

@guerrillarain@witches.town o____o $500/hour is definitely excessive. I don't know how much it varies by region, but (runs to Google) Slave to the Needle, probably the most popular tattoo place in Seattle, charges $100 minimum (that's for those tiny little butterfly tats), hourly $175, and oh heck here's the page: slavetotheneedle.com/faq/ Dark Horse (also popular) is $125 darkhorsetattooing.com/tattoo- so... much more than I remember, much less than what you're being told! XD

@guerrillarain@witches.town yes (I've seen some really nice ones), but it's *eeeexpensive* to get it done right, and you have to be sure to get an artist who's good enough to handle it. be prepared to do a lot of shopping around, and expect to pay... based on what I remember and what I've heard of current prices quoted, at least $60/hour, and (depending on the size of the tattoo) at least 3-4 hours.

nazis, seattle, reddit link

@vahnj they're wearing masks, so they aren't entirely fearless; they're afraid of being identified, and alllll the backwash that comes with it. sing it with me...

if you're Nazi and you're fired it's your fault *clap clap*

USELESS TRVIA OF THE DAY:

The "We aint' found shit" guy in Spaceballs was played by Tim Russ, who went on to play Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager.

All y'alls. Stop. Just for like a day, a week. And just think what effect your next message may actually have on someone else's life.
Would you want it to brighten their day, or the opposite? Then consider what that says about you.

* got a preview of the next Doctor's regeneration scene, which was quite cool, although spoiled somewhat by my (subconscious?) fear that since the new Doctor is female they'll put her in a short dress and heels BECAUSE PATRIARCHY. this bit also featured a "retrospective" of past Doctors, companions, and Masters, most of which were never on the show.

* something about learning to fly by capturing a spirit phoenix and then something WoW-type quest something? that was interrupted by an angry rant from Roger Ebert about the health dangers of smoking. nevertheless, I did manage to fly some, though I had difficulty clearing two-story buildings, presumably because I never finished the quest.
* OMG I AM CRAVING CINNAMON ROLLS SO BADLY. (good GF cinnamon rolls are frickin' impossible to find)
