@chalcedony@octodon.social fair enough--it's not like there's a universally agreed-upon marker for "grown up" on the individual level. that said, it seems obvious to me that we as a species are experiencing some kind of adolescence--we're old enough to drink and drive, but not wise enough not to do both at the same time. "growing up" if nothing else implies *not* drunk-driving our motorcycle off a cliff, which is what our species seems determined to do at this point. :|

@kara_dreamer@witches.town I bounced off GC hard a while back--there's a particular thing that came up in the comic that pushed some buttons of mine, and while I've been assured that it was dealt with appropriately and satisfactorily, I still can't make myself push through it to get to the payoff. :|

@chalcedony@octodon.social regardless of what tools we use to communicate with each other, we're still "human" (that: whole other thing), with all the faulty programming and weird legacy code bugs. short of intervention from a benevolent godlike being, nothing external is going to save us; we just have to grow the fuck up as a species, before we kill ourselves. sometimes I'm optimistic that we'll do this... other times, less so. :\
