@shel just thought "what is the pronoun for a taxpayer"
@mawr eep! *sends a pulse of luck-thoughts*

memory of Rebecca, cw for (a lil bit of) islamophobia and antisemitism
@guerrillarain@witches.town perhaps a gentle response along the lines of "now now, Becky, just because you're culturally ignorant isn't any reason to antagonize HR by being a Christian zealot." OH WAIT.
(also her name is "Becky" to me now and forever more)
@JulieSqveakaroo @Ulfra_Wolfe@witches.town @Kyna iirc there is a canonical answer to this and it's depressingly cissexist-patriarchal. otoh it has never been discussed in the movies which are the primary canon so I continue to believe they are robot-gendered, which means it generally doesn't matter unless they want it to, and then they download gender-ish software. other bots can tell, but they don't talk to icky squishy meatbags about it. also, they have a *lot* more genders than the meatbags do...
Amtrak commuter train derailment, WA, near Olympia/Tacoma
Spouse told me about this when he got home, was surprised I hadn't heard. surprisingly few fatalities, though a lot of injuries. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/amtrak-derailment-train-crashes-near-tacoma-washington-n830751
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Mastodon discussions. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the discussions will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Gargron’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths
@mismatched@a.weirder.earth @janellecshane yep, and I just followed her--yesterday! :D /shywaves
