@Jacel @mawr I think a lot of that is attributable to DA writing them basically under duress, especially Mostly Harmless. he was extremely frustrated at the lack of response to his other fiction projects, and the various multimedia/game things he was trying to do, and HHGTTG was pretty much a proven cash cow. he deliberately ended MH in a "fuck it I AM DONE WITH THIS UNIVERSE IT IS DONE NO MORE" kind of way.

@zebratron2084 for your birthday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsQO1jOXLeg (and yes I know all the words to this by heart)
also let me know if you feel up for socializing whenever--my Fridays and Saturdays are now booked, but other days are still extremely flexible. ;) <3
@kara_dreamer@witches.town @mawr in delicate island ecologies, keeping outdoor cats is bordering on criminal. *sigh*
@mawr @kara_dreamer@witches.town *nod* my household used to have indoor/outdoor cats, until we lost two in half a year to cars. I put my claw down then, and our cats have been *indoors only* ever since. :|
@mawr ~I might have some ~opinions~
@mawr also, it's actually really rare that coyotes will go after full-grown, healthy adult cats. sick cats, or kittens, yes; they can prey on feral cat colonies. it's raccoons that are likely to mess up and kill cats--they're territorial, and cats can't escape a raccoon as easily as they can a coyote. or feral dogs, which are acclimatized to humans & other domesticated animal. plus PEOPLE SHOULD KEEP THEIR CATS INDOORS ANYWAY, especially if they think there's coyotes around!
they freak out when they see coyotes, "ooh coyotes spread disease, ooh coyotes are dangerous to pets and children," and don't realize that RATS ARE FAR WORSE ON EVERY POINT. I want to go door-to-door with a flyer and forcibly educate people. WE NEED THE COYOTES. CHERISH THE COYOTES.
I really hope we get another pack moving into this territory soon. people don't realize that the *base* of coyote diets is rats, and they're pretty much the only ground predators in this climate that are capable of keeping the rat numbers down--and without them, this place will be *swarming* with rats. :|
in less cute local wildlife news, the coyote pack that had the apartment complex as part of their territory isn't around any more--I have no idea why; they might have just moved away--and we are currently without a regular coyote presence. there's been a couple around, but not nearly as frequently. and I can tell in part because of the number of rat sightings I've had in the last couple of weeks has tripled.
also one of them was scratching its head with a claw and fell over, wings flailing. OMGOMGOM
they have the basic idea "turn over a leaf and you might find something tasty," but they haven't quite figured out that the tasty thing is probably *under* the leaf and probably not *the leaf itself*, so they keep trying to eat the leaves. XD
@zebratron2084 *bitebite*?
Putting out another reminder that I'm in search of affordable housing in or very near Seattle.
Sooner I find some place the better, so I no longer have to endure my landlord sending me listings and suggesting I'm not trying hard enough to leave (and that I'm being too picky when I limit my search to places where I can trust my roommates won't flip out on me for being transgender.)
