@chr@cybre.space weedy seadragons are a little less flashy, but they’re still great floaty boys.

today's volunteering report (training, no dead animal handling)
we got some training today on the program that's uses to keep track of stuff, the various medications can be used for various animals and situations, and a basic outline of what they're looking for when they do a simple blood draw--platelet volume, making slides for the vets to look at, how to use the autoclave. and there's a training thing for starting-senior volunteers either this or next Sunday, I'm signing up for that!
today's volunteering report (bad news)
the saw-whet owl, after a promising start, is sounding increasingly unlikely to make it; the wing fracture started to heal, but then reverted. between that and basically having one nonfunctional eye... it doesn't look good.
really, that's about the only bad news. owls, flicker, seagull, everybody else is doing fine! :)
today's volunteering report (good news)
we have a river otter! the rehabbers aren't sure what was wrong with her; she doesn't seem to have any structural damage aside from a nearly shattered canine, which they're going to remove sometime this week, and her condition has improved from barely responsive to rolling and bouncing around her enclosure. otherwise, no particularly interesting new intakes--a couple of pigeons, a couple of squirrels...
today's volunteering report (good news)
the bald eagle from last time is still doing well. it's about time for the bear cubs to start coming out of hibernation, so that's going to happen over the next month or so as their food and light is gradually increased. if they gain weight properly, they're on schedule for release June-ish, along with the bobkittens. the raccoons are likely to be released sooner, in March or April.
today's volunteering report
fairly dull day as work goes--I filled up the sinks to wash dishes & put myself down on the board to clean the ward, but one of the other almost-senior volunteers was showing two of the most-junior volunteers how to clean it instead, so I let them have at. instead I did the cleaning pad (not hard, just involves spraying water around and getting wet outside, brrr), collected trash, & did a couple of other odd chores.
drug culture (pot smoking) question
on a scale of 1 (horribly offended) to 10 (ridiculously pleased), and assuming you had mostly been smoking pipes/joints, how would you feel if your upstairs neighbor bought you vape pens and begged you to use them after 10 pm so they could open their window at night? :|
