I used the Merlin app to play the pileated woodpecker calls back at it, and spoofed the woodpecker to fly away. I got to see it fly past, but I feel like I scared it away, so... partial success? XD

and I am so damn pleased with myself that I can recognize the pileated woodpecker's call. it feels like a treat, to hear it and then the relatively gentle drumming sound...

air alert is still going, and seems to be spreading. I'm reminded of the time the crows spent four hours screaming at a mylar balloon that had gotten stuck at the top of a pine tree. :P

hmm... I'm not getting notifications right now. replies show up in my timeline, and I'm getting offscreen alerts when somebody favorites/boosts a toot, but the last entry in the Notifications column was 2 hours ago, and there's been a lot of activity with my feed since then. anybody else having this?

the Asshole Alert system has been activated. I'm starting to learn the difference in the crows' alarm calls; shorter, bark-like caws usually indicate a threat in the air, a hawk or eagle, while longer, growly calls are for a threat on the ground, like a human or coyote. this one is an air alert, but there's still too many leaves on the trees to get a good look at whatever's alarming them. I'd put money on one of the Cooper's hawklings, though.

and Drow upgrades are based on the number of spells cast in this game. including mana regeneration. so now I'm autocasting Call to Arms, Blood Frenzy, Goblin's Greed (with Tax Collection bonus), Combo Strike, and Heatwave (the seasonal special) continually, never running out of mana, and suddenly generating a volume of coins I've never seen in this game before. so much for the Titan faction!

so I've been playing Realm Grinder, and just unlocked the Drow faction. I thought I needed 10k spells cast in the same game, but it looks like it was cumulative over time? but whatever. I've had the goblins running for the last few days, autocasting Goblin's Greed with the upgrade that also casts Tax Collection at the same time for a two-for-one casting bonus. so spells cast in this particular game were pretty high.

the downside of cleaning up my desk area is the amount of dust it kicks up. so much sneezing. ;_____;

I think I may have finally reached the point in my life where I know how to actually make use of office supplies. I'd been impulse-buying and hoarding them for over a decade when I made myself stop. I'm gradually making use of the ones I have left, and thinking about adding a few more, which I will actually use...

OH MY GOSH one of the Cooper's hawklings missed a grab at a bird on our porch and perched on the railing! only for like 2 seconds but Spouse & I both saw it! SO COOL
