Update to last night's Werewolf ramblings:
With this on my mind, my nightly meditation stuff was far more... vibrant than it usually is. And I went to bed full of ideas for how to add more Garou-inspired things into my magical practice. So yeah, this might be A Thing for me. c.c;
@Thaminga Seeker of secrets. ^.^
@LexYeen Yuuuup:
Interesting side note too while I was googling for that: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Mutant_mantis_shrimp
"one terrifying version of a mantis shrimp."
But that's just... what a mantis shrimp is. o.o; What is this monstrosity. o.o;;;
*reads down original thread more* Ooooh he wants it to be an "everything for everybody" network.
Yeah, I'm not speaking the same language, here.
Glad I didn't respond to the OP. :P

I've just started though so can't exactly give a rec yet. Just the way it opened with someone walking through the Umbra really struck a chord. :)
Continued Werewolf tooting, now more conceptual
Animism, much like identifying with animals, is one of those things that hits so deep in me that it's hard to tell where it came from. Werewolf was my first formal introduction to it, it fascinated me for years before it really clicked that the fascination was an indication of it just making sense to me on some sort of primal level.

Of course as fun as the auspice stuff is, what I really like about the setting is how, unlike a lot of RPGs, you're involved in the metaphysics even if you're not a Theurge.
Want to know why there's something strange in your neighborhood? Probably easier to tell in the Umbra. Want to learn a new supernatural power? You're gonna be taking to a spirit. Want to get into that building undetected? Find a mirror and step sideways!
@KawaSeadrake Wow, yeah, it does. :)
@Ulfra_Wolfe@witches.town @emanate I always feel a bit torn between those two myself, despite my dead-on 0% new moon birth auspice. That's sorta why I made my last character the way I did.
@emanate I always figured they should be equally-distributed, so if you're within 2-3 days either way it probably counts (20% rule).
I can see you as Ragabash, considering the puns. ;)
The aforementioned moon-phase calcuator, if anyone is curious: http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/vphase.html
Words cannot express how thrilled I am that that page is still there after *20 YEARS*
@Ulfra_Wolfe@witches.town My most recent character (for a LARP that only lasted a session or two, sadly) was a Glass Walker Ragabash metis who embraced their metis-born variant gender situation and basically had enough Spirit Heritage and umbral experience to be able to get away with being Theurge too. If you could put up with them long enough. :)
@Ulfra_Wolfe@witches.town Theoretically, yeah, but in practice Ragabash was a lot more about the trickster archetype than the sneaky/spying stuff. Which made it a weird fit along with warrior, bard, judge, and sage; I understand why nWoD changed it, but as a coyotetype, it was still dissapointing. :)
I was just doing some newsgroup digging and I'm reasonably sure I got turned on to Werewolf in the first place by a post about a moon phase calculator on alt.lifestyle.furry.
Which led to me looking mine up then eagerly heading to the bookstore to find out what it means.
(Ragabash, BTW. I will pause for a moment for everyone's surprise to die down)
@Ulfra_Wolfe@witches.town I could go deep into the 'how you do spiritwork in Mage' thing because it's been kinda an obsession of mine since I first read the books over 15 years ago, it gets into the arcane depths of the sphere system.
Whereas in Werewolf, it's just... Tuesday, which is sorta my point. It's really affirming to not have spirit interactions being My Character's Special Thing, but instead just something that everyone deals with and I happen to deal with more.
