@PrincessOfCats And like, right now I can't imagine doing 60 mins a day, but on the other paw a week ago I couldn't imagine doing 15 mins a day soooo hey.
@PrincessOfCats TBH he actual first effect was probably more the emotional lability I was tweeting about last night? Sometimes I need this to break down the dams that my coping mechanisms build up.
@typhlosion @binary Seconding tarot and meditation; with meditation you don't even have to worry about 'think nothing'; a good start that will get you pretty far is 'observe thoughts, and let them pass'; just try not to get stuck on any specific train of thought.
For witchcraft/paganism more broadly, there are a zillion-and-a-half intro books and blogs and stuff, all pretty interchangeable. Read some, and feel free to mentally bin huge chunks of them as ridiculous nonsense. ;)
furries, reply with your first furry crushes
@typhlosion These are all basically retrospect, as it's all stuff that I first saw while not having any concept of my sexuality.
...How did it even take me that long to work that out, considering all that.
furries, reply with your first furry crushes
@typhlosion Probably Justin from Secret of NIMH? Which my family thought for some reason was good watchin' for kids?
...Followed soon after by Simba and Balto because ✨ I ✨ am ✨ a ✨ stereotype ✨
Oh cool, is it #introductions time?
I'm a vaguely trans, for-sure non-binary, very gay furry critter in the Seattle area.
The important parts of my life involve dabbling at various creative pursuits (design, crafting writing, etc), being a good toy for my owner, and learning how to talk and work with the spirits and gods of a highly-personal esoteric tradition.
My day-job involves helping people and computers get along together.
I love answering questions about any of the above, so ask away!
@literorrery @KawaSeadrake I understand how to handle the blackberries, they are not the problem.
In general actually I'm at a 'should not deal with this topic to preserve mental health' point right now, so can we stop talking about this? Acknowledge by just... not talking about it anymore, please. :)
@KawaSeadrake ...Then why do I NEVER see anyone actually DOING that?
@CoronaCoreanici I think you VASTLY overestimate the actual amount of non-normative sexuality in 2010's San Francisco. :(
@ThatDamnCat I don't even want a lawn, would love to just have a lot of stonework with native plants and some veggie beds. But the grass is just THERE and is SO GOOD at covering up all the nice rocks we do have. >.<
@ThatDamnCat It is, at least in legal terms, 'my' land. And I still have no idea what I'm doing. It looked so nice when we got here and now just... increasingly overgrown, which I actually mostly like, except where it covers up the nice bits like the rockwork?
@typhlosion Thank you. -.-
Seriously, how do people figure out how to take care of land; helping my parents weed never prepared me for this. >.<
Emotional labiilty
My afternoon:
* Putter around the house feeling aimless and cruddy
* Go for a walk, discover a secret way into the cool riverside abandoned lot down the road, much excitement and glee
* Come home, productively take measurements for the yard project, until enthusiasm tips over into an overwhelming feeling of helplessness about ever being able to do what I want with it.
* Spend the next hour or so crying, mostly.
What even does my brain thing it is doing.
Minor family negativity, gender
@literorrery Yup. I started to spend words on why we decided it the way we did and then just gave up and basically said "We got to choose, we choose this way, the end"
@Fuego I'm so distant from all of them that I never saw much point in dealing with it, but my mom thought it was time, because of folks aging, legal complications, etc. Which is also why she wanted to write the letter. Which is also also why I'm mildly weary about having to rewrite chunks of it.
I still dunno what she thinks about the Paganism thing; I only brought it up once really, around winter solstice 2015, and basically got an "Oh that's nice..."
Which is certainly much better than such things go sometimes! But I do, for instance, wonder what she's thinking is happnening now when I do agree to pray for folks, etc. ;)
Minor family negativity, gender
@literorrery It wasn't an ARGUMENT, but it was very... hand-wringy? I mean, it's all okay that she wanted to explain Ana's transition, it all just centers, as ever, on the last-name issue, an awkwardness I suppose you have some experience with too!)
