@MinUmbra No I mean it's actually a good UX move, in that it makes it clear that "this was a DM so you can't boost it" :)

The 'boost' icon being replaced with the private/DM icons is SUCH a good Mastodon UX move.

@spiderrobotpig@witches.town I think like the 'witch as feminine-coded empowerment' thing is important enough to me (in the abstract) that I don't wanna screw it up with my own self. ;)

@spiderrobotpig@witches.town ...Also the gender thing. (That was gonna go in the original toot and then I totally spaced it)

@spiderrobotpig@witches.town That's a super-cool thought and I resonate with it in a way that is like... not the same but related? I think a big diff between the 'witch' archetype and... whatever I am is I sorta seek after a dedicated 'serve the tribe in general' role whereas witches seem a bit more solitary in general?

@vahnj Hmm, yah, good call. (I mean, ideally I'm not sure those all should should share a color in the first place but that's a different topic)

I do like the orange. :)

@vahnj Wait then you might have contrast problems with the white text, aaaa color is hard, this is why I stick to UX.

@forestservice PF Discord has a somewhat weird vibe for me too, FWIW? Founder effects are a thing.

Where is this awoo.space discord? ^.^

@vahnj I'd actually recommend tinting things a bit more yellow, maybe like a ?

@Siphonay Source: I managed to get a non-life-eating job at a company that constantly has articles written about how life-eating it is to work there so... I must be doing something right. c.c;

(Is it possible that the "something right" is having a sort of tech-adjacent job rather than an actual coding job though)

@Siphonay Fortunately that's one of the things you do have some control over. A super-important thing to do in a job interview is get a feel for "Is this a place I want to work?" There ARE tech jobs that don't eat your life; lots of people who end up in the life-eating ones do it because of promise of big-money. Sounds like you're already less worried about that from what you said earlier, so just... don't get tricked, I guess. ;)

Maybe I'll start sharing daily* spiritwork/esoterica links!

lairbhan.blogspot.com/2017/04/

This is a good article; I like how deeply it treats and considers 'chosen names' and it makes me realize I probably have bene doing a few things wrong, oops. ;)

*Frequency not guaranteed, probably more like "whenever I find something good, probably once a month or so because the esoteric-blogger world, is just as full of junk as the rest of the web." ;)

@MinUmbra Oh wow, I think I remember watching that! I'm sure it must have given me a ton of feelings.

Minor dayjob grump regarding masculinity

Dear work people: Sending an "I love unicorns" message to shame people who left their computers unlock is REALLY uncomfortably gender-loaded and if anyone does it to me I will probably complain to HR.

food, diet

@vahnj If you find one let me know please. :9

family

@vahnj (Like, to be clear, take this with many grains of salt, I have no idea how to do the dealing-with-family thing pretty much ever, and the only reason I ever figured out my brother was queer is because he forgot to log out of his yahoo groups on the family computer one time; he was lucky I used the computer next instead of my parents. ;))

family

@vahnj Yikes. *nod* Is this a kind of situation where you could privately reach out to him with a 'hey is everything cool?'

Like maybe not RIGHT after he announces he's dating a girl because, awkward, but at some point?

family, closeted gay stuff?

@vahnj Ooof, yeah, that sort of thing can be awkward and confusing, yeah. :\

(Though really if he's bi then dating a girl isn't necessarily HIDING anything...)

Heck it. 'Spiritworker-in-training'. If it raises questions, well, I like answering those sorts of questions. ^.^
