I am sitting by a big window overlooking the windy lake in a cabin while wearing a new scarf that was knit by a friend.

I think that this vacation thing may be worthwhile.

flash fiction

I always thought that it couldn't possibly be harder to get up on a rainy day. Then my brother was born a fire-elemental mutant.

That changed my outlook a bit.

It helps that we live in a climate-controlled apartment, but getting him out of bed for school is still a grueling task that requires the entire family working together.

I can only imagine how it must feel to wake up to weather that literally makes you ill.

It bugs me that the 'about me' part of the profile is so short. I can't put my Tox id in it.

On that note, my Tox id is 63FF9442651C2CEF6A788E45E7525835F98AC2AB78CE5B92413CDC144C805040606EFEE8E207

I think that I was just told that I wasn't treating someone like a human because my emotional labour wasn't focused on them.

I am really not sure how to react to that, blocking seems a bit harsh in context but still very tempting.

I really like the chill attitude on awoo.space. I am one of those grouchy old people who likes it when there aren't all these damn kids on my lawn.

It is fun that I can log into my mastodon.social account and see what was happening two hours ago. It is like a time machine.

the year is 2017 and i have a social media adress comprised entirely of the words "gay" "space" "lizard" and "awoo"

while i want to celebrate the increasing popularity of mastodon.social, it's pretty sad and rude to see people talking about being the "first ones here", "getting in on the ground floor", even debating what to call users of mastodon.social

we already did that, we already had a culture, and goddamn it we're called tooties

While this probably won't be my main account, I really like the opt-in ideas that awoo.space uses. I would rather have easy per-user settings that let people make social groups easier even within a single server.

So what bothers me about the chart on social.guhnoo.org/ is that their color-coding implies that things like "moderation" and "doesn't allow controversial content" and "doesn't allow offensive speech" are BAD things on par with not supporting SSL. That's all-too-common F/OSS Freeze Peach thinking displayed front-and-center.

I really like that awoo.space has 'AWOO!' in place of 'TOOT'.

As much as I like being one of the people on Mastodon.social who has been around a while, I have a new account here because the server is dying under the weight of the new users.

And I think that splitting into different servers with different cultures is the only way that the federated network is going to thrive. So there is that too.

Awoo Space

Awoo.space is a Mastodon instance where members can rely on a team of moderators to help resolve conflict, and limits federation with other instances using a specific access list to minimize abuse.
