So I got laid off this morning. In hindsight, the signs were there, etc...

Honestly? I probably was getting a little too comfortable. I knew that at my age, you hired for my experience -- which at this point is all centered around soft skills. My resume is straight up trash LOLOLOL A BLOO BLOO BLOO 😢

The severance was decent and I'll really miss my job. I felt like I was just getting into the hang of it. And I'll really miss the people I work with. And I'll be OK. Change happens.

@tilton It really *is* hard to escape that feeling of encroaching doom, isn't it? It's in the news, in social media, in our entertainment. :/

@Azure I've heard a lot of advocacy for rethinking the kind of energy I assume you're talking about, and I agree we've made some pretty great advances with efficiency and waste materials.

But isn't even *extracting* the raw material we'd need for that energy pretty damaging to the environment? Is there any way we could get and process the fuel with minimal environmental damage? That's the one aspect I've never heard a good answer for.

Listening to an MSNBC interview with Matt Tabibi (that Twitter Files guy) and it's just...two men talking over one another for ten minutes with no real persuasive ability. It's stressful and dispiriting.

I mean, Tabibi came off like a real piece of shit, but I also don't think you can show that to a supporter of his with any expectation they'll consider whatever information's in it.

Tonight, at long last, I get to be a KOBOLD again! If you had asked me five years ago if that would make me so giddy, I would have said "Probably not."
