OMG, that's why Las Vegas is so exhausting! Sounds definitely overstimulate me, especially voices. Vegas can be kind of a nightmare if you don't know what you're walking into.

I went to Las Vegas for the first time last month. I was prepared for the visual stimulation. I was prepared for a lot of people, I frequent lots of major cities when I can. I was as prepared as one can be for the heat.

Medication gives you a fighting chance -- it eases the slope of your uphill fight. But it's still a struggle. You have to unlearn unhealthy coping mechanisms, and dive deep to work on the things that can't be resolved with anything but hard work and persistent effort.
Even with diagnosis and treatment, it's STILL something I'm fighting against. Writing has become exceptionally hard for me to do because there's still so much anxiety wrapped up in it.
The thing about mental illness is that medication is only part of your recovery.
This kind of paralysis is what finally got me to see a doctor about ADHD. It just got to the point where it was causing severe anxiety (especially at work) and really awful self-talk.

I think what we can do with whatever platform we have in our social media is lead by example. Stop giving assholes all of the oxygen in the room. As Mr. Rogers says, "Look for the helpers."

I want to learn more about people who have a vision for the post-carbon world; communal living; the reformation of cities and our economy to be more sustainable; why we make it the most difficult for people who are legit trying to make the world better.
That's worth our time.
I want articles about how people who have isolated, masked, and vaccinated feel about the prolonged, unnecessary crisis in the US because of people who refuse to do the right thing.
I want navel-gazing essays about the people taking action on climate change.
In insisting on handing the mic to the unvaccinated, the anti-maskers, the alt-right, and every bad actor in politics, the mainstream media has undoubtedly legitimized people who should not have been given a platform.
It should be normalizing pro-social behavior instead.
