Captain's log, stardate today: This Class M planet has some hella weird lifeforms on it.

Nothing more unnerving than going out to the normally crowded village, where there's barely a dozen people around and all but three places are closed, to go to a store where nearly every shelf is empty.

Very much feels like an alternative universe.

Status update: No rice. Bought a gift card for British Mother’s Day though so that’s something.

Gonna make a run for it to the store to see if I can buy more rice before they sell out again.

I’m down to like a single serving of basmati. I have the Asian, I can’t live without rice!

I ain’t mentioned it before, but I’m getting that Animal Crossing game. What should I name my island?

PMQs being significantly empty (Tory MPs have been limited to order paper only, Labour have asked most to not turn up) makes the entire thing… really much more pleasant. It’s far less rowdy than normal.

Well this is a new one. Internet Explorer is ignoring half of the media queries I have on this page—it's literally rendering one half in in the mobile (default) styles and one half in the desktop styles.

Vertical alignment in CSS still eludes some, it seems.

@ripp_ Could play virtually anything conceivable on a holodeck.

Actually plays hilly chess.

Today’s government statement was basically “places should close and everyone should self-isolate, but we’re not gonna force you to” which is just… not really useful at all?

WHO: “You should introduce social distancing measures as soon as possible to stop spread.”

Downing St: “Nah.”

WHO: “You should test as many people as possible to understand the scale and spread.”

Downing St: “lol no”

If you're a fan of spreadsheets, I've been collating the daily coronavirus data dumps from the UK's various health orgs into a single sheet. Might be useful if you're doing things with data. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d

If, for some reason, you want to hear Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy and Rarity chastise you for making a bad comment on the internet, I made that. awoo.space/@kimpegasus/1038275

So they updated that voice machine learning thing...

@ripp_ It doesn't go down consistently though. It keeps going up and down between episodes :P

@ripp_ It apparently bounces between about 154 and 127 between different episodes.

@ripp_ AFAIK the "five year mission" classes of ships were intended to make short jaunts out from a starbase and then back again. The Intrepid class was more dedicated to extended isolation.

@ripp_ It's generally implied that Voyager was forced into action before it was finished. Voyager's captain's yacht (shuttlecraft) is also never used for the same reason.
