UK politics

The government response to anything Brexit related sounds like a chanting cult at this point.

Not to say Boris Johnson is a liar or anything, but just after becoming PM he made it incredibly, absolutely clear that he didn’t want to have an election before the end of October.

Except now he does, apparently.

We all know that Google (with Chrome-ium) has at least close to 90% of the browser marketshare on the internet.

Which is your primary browser on your computer?

Remember that Brave, Opera and Edge are Chromium derivatives. I consider Safari to be separate since it's Webkit and not Blink.

Retoot this to get more votes in.

There's never been a better time to be interested in British parliamentary process, because we keep getting into another "this hasn't happened in 300 years" or "this can only happen because of an obscure constitutional loophole" scenario at least once week.

Weird how the government argues having a second referendum on Brexit is undemocratic… and that NOT having a general election before Brexit would also be undemocratic.

I’m not sure they know what democracy is at this point.

These'll be the Tories having the whip withdrawn if Johnson follows through on his threat. Some big names here.

No deal blocked. Sanity prevails, for maybe the first time in three years.

Running late because I rewatched/relistened to half the movie all over again whoops.

It feels like ages since I gushed about Steven Universe on main so hi, it's an hour before the premiere of the movie, and re-watching some stuff in the run up...

This show never fails to make me feel overwhelming amounts of emotion, more than perhaps any television programme I've ever watched. I can't make some generalised "it changed my life"-like statement, but by gosh it might be the only piece of media that so readily brings me to sweet, joyful tears.

This week is one of great highs and lows as the Steven Universe Movie comes out on Monday, and OK KO comes to a somewhat premature end on Friday.

Such is the duality of cartoons.

relationships, the straights are at it again

Had a real wtf moment last weekend where my friend admitted he'd kinda fallen into a relationship with a close friend of his, but she was scared of commitment due to a past relationship going awry, so was antsy about considering themselves a couple.

So my friend's proposal was to give her an ultimatum to either date him or he'd cut her off entirely. :|

*And my parent's agreed that this was a totally reasonable course of action.* :|||||

Hungry makes us human.
Everyone can see it.
Everything's connected.

If autoplaying music when someone landed on your website was still a hot new thing everyone was doing this would totally be my jam on there right now.

And really, given they seem entirely aware at this point that the aftermath of a no deal Brexit will likely injure, kill and result in a generation’s worth of poor quality of life, it’s not far from the dictionary definition to consider no deal supporters political terrorists.

I was musing a couple of days ago that people who take religious and political texts to their most radical extrapolations are usually called extremists or terrorists.

No deal is the most radical extrapolation of the referendum result. No deal Brexiteers are extremists.

We need to leave the EU because Parliament should be sovereign also we need to shut down Parliament because they don’t want to leave the EU.

I am here for bat-themed cakes. I hope the wings stay on!

“politicians don’t get to choose which public votes they respect” IT WAS AN ADVISORY REFERENDUM. BEING ABLE TO IGNORE IT WAS PART OF THE POINT.
