I'm not going into music therapy, but I will be working as a therapist with children who have Autism starting soon.

life tip: if you're in an acquaintanceship with somebody, and they keep crossing a boundary of yours because you've never told them?
tell them about it, so they know to respect it. they're never going to if you don't tell them.

Gawd, one of the things my school teaches elementary student's is how to self-regulate their emotions. Basically, ways to cope, calm down, and deal with out-of-control emotions.

I would have *seriously* benefitted from learning this early on. Like, easily 90% of my school and social life problems have been related to understanding and controlling my emotions.

I'm glad kids are learning this now.

People seem to think that accessibility is only a consideration for folks with physical disabilities, but there are a lot of different things that can prevent you from accessing or learning something, and many of them are invisible.

ADHD and Autism fundamentally change how you interact and think.

Psychosis fundamentally changes how you see the world and everything in it.

Dyslexia and Dyscalculia are massive concerns for text accessibility.

Color Blindness is an issue that most websites don't even consider.

And these are just getting into the accessibility for people with disabilities - completely disregarding how income and resources factor in.

a lot of the reason cis people keep paying/giving platform to newly out trans writers is that, among all the other things, they're likely to make mistakes that the cis people, especially those who want us erased, can use as the crack in the armor, the leverage. so they can go 'look! a prolific writer said this!"

the longer you're out and the longer you're around the less and less you'll get hired to write for these platforms, generally, and thats mostly because with experience comes actually learning things and the slice of what you know expands

Today is the day of seeing -phobia used for hate and discrimination, isn't it.

- it takes responsibility from the ppl doing the shitty thing (yes, _especially_ if you're going to argue "it's not referencing mental illness, it's like in 'hydrophobic'!" - oppression is not a force of nature) and misrepresents the mechanisms
- it's awkward to throw people with phobias in with all that
- it is often used to score easy points from more openly ableist beliefs, see "homophobia can be cured" etc.
