I started yelling about food on birdsite a while back. it was surprisingly fun to fit a recipe in a twert with lots of pictures and sometimes cursing. It was all veg, but I didn't really make a big deal out of it, since I just want to encourage folks to make good food.

Anyway, I decided to turn it into a project, a combination blog and book. It's very much a vanity project, but it feels good to make.

The leftist answer to the NRA. They got everyone from socialists to libertarians, they're a pretty diverse bunch, and most of the political stances they take aren't too bad (to me).

I've always believed the best bulwark against the heavily armed right is not to plug our ears and pretend gun control is magic pixie dust that can Save The Day (they'll just go underground with their guns), but to answer them on their own terms.

I understand that it's remarkably unsexy and also kind of draining to set up meals programs and develop housing opportunities for not just comrades, but everyone.

However, as a means of creating actual political change, consider the vast sum of wealth recently poured into the Georgia 6th special election. Democrats across the country dumped 27 million on Ossoff's campaign.

Now imagine instead that sum was used on a housing trust for union members, who could now strike without fear for months.

@munin Open source culture is so bad because talent is valued more than basic things like, idk, treating people like human beings?
