Welp it's time to break my headphones and maybe make them even better; here goes!
(Following this guide:

@mawr and then the headphone jack goes in! That was a pain to screw into place. I also drilled and cut into the retention bracket to make enough clearance to fold them up. ^^
Done with part one! On to part 2...
@mawr After taking some time to practice with the female 3.5mm jacks, it's time for part 2.
I'm nervous about this one, wish me luck!
@mawr SUCCESS!! This was a pain. The 3.5mm female audio jack is stereo, and the mic is mono, and the wires are super super thin and braided together. D:
I Converted the stereo 3.5mm jack to mono, then carefully got the thing soldered together.
Once together, a 4 post 3.5mm splitter to mic and headphones, manage the cables, then use a 4 post 3.5mm cable to plug into any compatible device. Voi la! Headset!
I wasn't as granular on this because this was a lot more frustrating. XD
@mawr It's probably mylar film. Epoxy wouldn't be flexible enough!
@mawr No heatshrink on the individual wires? Insulation is good!
@Felthry Yes, but space is at a premium in that casing, and the insulation on those wires worked just fine while they were encased in a rubber curly cord casing, so I think it'll be just fine. ^^
@mawr Hmm... I would have at least put a thin piece of heatshrink over each wire.
@mawr g'luck! :D
@mawr Go MAWR
@mawr next is the wiring of the headphone jack! Wiring up for a test first, then solder, then heat shrink tubing to seal it up all nice. ^^
