Good News In The World (bugs, +++)

time.com/4885569/honeybee-popu

so on the whole, at the very least, bees are doing okay in america, or at least pulling away from being severely endangered.

The bugs are makin' trends towards okay. 💜

There's not much to report here?
I just hope that today is not too utterly terrible for you.

In fact, y'know what?
I'll be wishing for you to have a *good* day
That you can find some warmth and happiness

a full meal
shelter and comfort and friendship

and the knowledge that you are loved.

This ott is wishing that for you. 💜

@toybold Imagine my utter unsurprise. :9 These are all very good!!! 💜

vignette, stealth horny, sci-fi bondage

‘And this big squishy one in the middle of it? That’s...dripping?’

‘Yeah, That goes down their throat. That’s the important one. Hold on, I’ll help, then we get them in the pod.’

‘So’— Squelch.— ‘why’zit called a starfish?’
‘Cuz when you get it in their throat, you push this button and the whole rig curls around their head.’

....
‘Like that. O-oh. Like a starfish. Right.’

‘Mhm. Now help me lift, we’ve got four more to pod up before we can take off.’

[casual banter between two starship technicians, spacetime data lost]

‘Okay, they’re getting slowed down mentally for stasis; they shouldn’t respond when we move ‘em. did you put the starfish on them yet?’

‘Starfish?’

‘That headrig. The cord with the big squishy bundle at the end? Plugs their nose and ears and eyes and stuff, to help make sure they don’t get disturbed or almost wake up in the tank.’

‘*All* of these go in them, then?’

@Jacel The only way to build competency with these things is through repetition! ...asmuchasiwishotherwise.

the light of a foreign sun, distant, dim;
its teal light shimmering over a wide lake.
Ruins jut from the water; pillars of white marble, mist and fog peeling off,
melting away into the air.

so today is my manufactory-date! I've been really lucky to get to spend it with friends and in warmth and sunlight.

I hope you find happiness today, too. 💜

I hope today greets you kindly.
I hope you can find warmth
and solace
and safety
and most of all happiness, today.

@zebratron2084 I found out today that we're making pretty good strides in things like holographic technology? while likely for advertising purposes, this sort of thing just looks cool, i suppose. c: youtube.com/watch?v=sKjzsDAOgQ

Other than that...The seasons are turning (slowly); there is light enough now that I can even see the beginnings of it at 6am.

I can at least speak for myself: from where I sit, i'm still trying my best to make the world at least a little brighter? :) *offers hug*

The Bloop: Ellu Talks About Ocean Life (bizarre-looking animal)

@Gaypow oh no i'm just like, a title loosely starting a Thing, like a recurring column

because i like ocean life and am at least by degree a biologist so i want to use that for something?

...so basically no relation, sorry x3

The Bloop: Ellu Talks About Ocean Life (bizarre-looking animal)

Also weird: based on fossils, thought it was upside-down at first; the spines were thought to be its legs and the legs just tentacles. Some other researchers thought it an appendage of a larger animal.

It is described as part of Lobopodia, a taxa that is actually just an informal group for 'worms what with feet'

see also: tardigrades!

so today i learned about this thing
this thing is called Hallucigenia sparsa
it is a pre-cambrian worm (called a xenusiid, relatives to tardigrades)
and JUST LOOK AT IT

IT'S LIKE THE PINGU OF ELDRITCH TERRORS
like i genuinely expect it to just go 'noot noot' or something. whossa good monstrosity yes its youuuu~

@Soreth I still need to progress through it! I’ll obviously tell you if I am once I’m done.

...I mean if I knew OF COURSE I’d share. 💜💜💜
