just checked some specs of our new laptop and apparently all its cpu cores are clocked independently... including *different clocks for two logical cores of the same physical core*
@Felthry@noiob where did you read that info? Afaik there's a base clock, a boost clock and all cores adjust independently between these two depending on load, it's pretty much how modern CPUs work? I could interpret what you're saying wrong though
@Felthry@noiob I think I got it wrong yeah it can clock from low frequencies to the base clock and the boost clock is unlocked when there are intense loads
@noiob@Siphonay I suppose they probably do have multiple ALUs (or at least ALUs with independent parts; there's probably no more than one divider for instance but several adders) per core though, intel pioneered that kind of architecture a while ago
