@distelfliege@witches.town @ghost@anticapitalist.party I fear that without actively seeking out blind people to engage in the process, any discussion of blind accessibility on Mastodon/adjacent platforms becomes how to place Symbols of Accessibility that in-practice do not fix the problem (but may reassure us that it is fixed), rather than the actuality of making a space accessible.

@ghost@anticapitalist.party @distelfliege@witches.town @distelfliege@witches.town This feels verymuch like "We have a ramp, this has made our building layout accessible" design in architecture; Where. regardless of intent, the design is orchestrated according to the assumptions (or over-simple questions to a limited group) of what disabled people experience, rather than disabled ppl being part of the process.

To truly fix these kinds of problems, devs will need to co-ordinate with blind people about features & issues in an ongoing dialogue.

Happy Equinox, everybody! Spring is here, or Autumn, take your pick!

If you're in the Northern Hemisphere, please do not pick Autumn, terrible terrible things will happen to the Earth's axial tilt. Likewise if you're in the Southern, please do not pick Spring. Choose your seasons responsibly!

@Gaypow Coulda been a kitty

Go to incredible evolutionary lengths to be a pupper instead

End up being wonderful things in their own right

You're a fake communist if

@shoutcacophony@anticapitalist.party we can dance if we want to
we can leave the party behind
cuz the party don't dance
and if they don't dance,
well they're no party of mine

@extinctsnakes@mastodon.social good luck! they're rlly cool. We used to take BSL for a while, and it taught us so much about language from a perspective that demands analysing & shedding a lotta phonetic-lang-implicit assumptions (plenty of ppl over the years have tried imposing those assumptions anyway, but you can't just stamp SLs with the same template as phonetic langs without losing a tonne of meaning).

I'm curious what language yr gonna learn? I hope you have fun learning it, regardless. ^^

"It's so weird that they don't replicate Venus de Milo's arms in these replicas.."
"Yeah but, no one knows what they look like."
"She's clearly Carameldansen."
"..You're terrible."

Rats have a better economy than we do..

@Nine @Gaypow I have so many memories of my bf sending me flying with his Long Sword. x3

@Gaypow @Nine I was spoiled on it by first trying SA in Generations.. Where it's trivially easy to just stay in Super Sword Mode all the time, which gets really boring really fast. :<

That gave me a very bad impression of the weapon.

(Hunter Arts, which aren't in World, so likely not a problem)

@Gaypow
I loved deviljho because it was JUST
SO
GOOFY.

It was just like "hey there random five year old. What should this big monster be?"
"It should be like a t Rex! Only bigger! AND ANGRIER! and it wants to eat everything."
"Everything? Okay cool we'll have it attack and eat the players at every opportunity and-"
"No. EVERYTHING. Even itself!!"
"Woah.. uh .. ok um-"
"And it should shoot LASERS!!!"
"... GENIUS!"

No, I'm not salty that my favourite prehistoric critter is called "King Lizard" when /it's a whale/.

..I'm not!

Show thread

I'm still in quiet awe over "Rebellatrix" being a type of Coelocanth tbh.

That is a far better name than most prehistoric critter's get (the sliding scale between "Bob's Big-Eyed Fish" and "Ultra-King Claw Death-Eater of the Deep")

@Gaypow @Nine
GS basically trades complexity-learning for a steeper ramp of learning openings, hitbox ranges & recovery frames;

You get punished harder for whiffs, but once you learn monsters/timing, u'll know when & where to strike, & to what degree.. Which is not-all-but-basically-it in terms of technical complexity (No guages or phials or ammo types or whathaveyou)

Also releasing yr max charge just when it flashes on does more damage than holding it til yr character swings a moment later.

@Nine @Gaypow My 2c:

GS is pretty good at blocking, though Evasion Up is a v.useful skill for GS users, because blocking drains sharpness like no-one's business, so mixing the two up is key.

I'd honestly take FastCharge over Attack+ skills, for similar reasons to doing so w/ the Bow; It means you have more openings for more charged attacks, can land higher-charges more often, and charging is going to be the majority of your actual damage with the GS.

@Nine @Gaypow I'd recommend Charge Blade over Switch Axe, if you like charging things up for ridiculously slow but amazingly strong attacks that explode. :3

It's so satisfying when you get a supercharged shield with full vials, see the right opening, turn it into a gigantic axe and swing it around in an achingly slow motion.. That hits the monster, explodes gloriously, and knocks it prone~ ❤

@Nine I died to Rajang lasering through Deviljho, which I had no chance to actually see because Deviljho.

..Deviljho didn't seem to mind the laser passing directly through its torso at all. It 1-hit-killed me, though. ._.;;

At that point I went "Yeeah.. Nevermind.." on that quest.

@Nine Ahhh, right.. Monster Hunter Lickatung + Pooping does sound a bit unnerving.
