A man bursts into my webcomic IRC chat room from 2003, he is out of breath. "Actually this isn't economically viable!" he pants.

@typhlosion @shoofle Yeah like basically everything else written about postfurry it's intended for an internal audience, not an external one.

@typhlosion @shoofle Short version: furry + posthumanism + poststructuralism + cyberpunk.

Much longer answer: a kind of overwrought three-part essay: orrery.prismaticmedia.com/2016

@shoofle It's like, there's an internal cultural conceit that the ideals of postfurry are somehow niche, which becomes self-fulfilling when evangelizing is only directed inwards.

@shoofle It's... bah. I'm "a member of that community" and have a lot of complicated feelings. It definitely is filtered through five layers of performance and post-structuralism and post-irony but the core social spaces are also hella gated and elitist; you're not imagining things.

So Mastodon's apparently gotten large enough that people are wordsearching it, on Twitter, to message people about their Amazing Solutions for the service.

Which means not having word search here means the system is working.

@vahnj So I am close to some folks who joked about vore so much they eventually sorta drifted into being earnestly into it. So that's a thing that can happen.

@shoofle it's built out of a very specific cultural context (postfurry) so if it doesn't resonate that's okay? It's not about you being right for a deck, it's about the deck being right for you, yeah?

mastodon the social platform will exist for as long as there is even a single instance running, and there will never be something stopping anyone from starting a new one to connect with it, and that's intensely beautiful

sads, mh

I've been doing more or less Better for most of a year now but every time I have a couple of rough days in a row I fear it's the start of another inevitable slide into a years long depressive pit. That fear actually feels worse than the mood itself.

At least meds make the lows way less crushing.

...but ofc the sticker price on the drug is >$1k/mo so if I ever lose insurance I'm fucked.

Drugs, sads

Conversion with myself:
"What would help me feel less shitty?"
"Well, weed."
"... which is a bad idea since a lot of the job openings have a drug test."
"Given that you're stressed because you want to find a new job, that's pretty dang ironic."

super lewd I mean wow

@typhlosion knots are so fucking good though.

...and, well, good fucking.

Playing more with my toys sounds nice but bodies and desire aren't always in tune for that, sadly.

ideation, suicide

@spiderrobotpig@witches.town as far as ways to cope go, that's far from the worst. I've been there. Wishing you strength and hope.

(And now I'm having a weird moment of "oh actually *I'm* pretty young. I guess I tend to spend time in social circles where most people
are older than me?)

I have a vague feeling like Awoo skews fairly young? How old are y'all?
(I'm 25)

Shout-out to that time in highschool when I went to the mall and tried to convince people I was a time traveler.

@typhlosion (Disclaimer: I'm really novice.)
For me, rider-waite-smith feels built for a world very different from the one I live in. There's nothing there for me to grab on to. On the other hand, I started out with Silicon Dawn which is altogether too snarky and has nonstandard card meanings so that might've not been the best play either.
