Saccadic Masking is one of my favorite examples of this. @foone@twitter.com did a fun thread a couple of weeks ago about how eye movements make our subjectivity time travel.
Your perception of Right Now is a rolling time window 2-3 seconds wide, which is pretty dang far from instantaneous. That's wild to me.
Oh fuck yeah, turns out my favorite act from last night is actually the host of a weekdaily show I've heard before on C89.5 (local dance/pop/EDM station).
This is someone I DEFINITELY want to see perform again.
The idea that things either Are or Aren't isn't a necessary, inherent feature of the universe. It's a philosophical claim.
One that's been presupposed by an entire culture and canon of philosophical thought, sure. But it's an ideology, not a conclusion.
Says @KawaSeadrake : "I can't believe an audience member clocked me as a furry right away."
Me: "sweetie, you're wearing a pet collar."
Wonderful moment at the show last night:
Singer: "It's way too hot in here, let's maybe relax for a bit. Let's all sit down for this one."
And then they and the bassist went to sit in the middle of the stage, and the audience of probably 50-100 people all followed suit. We listened to the whole song from the floor.
Moving to @starkatt
I'm a leftist trans gay fox girl. More than one thing can be true at a time. I believe in agency, subjectivity, and beauty.
