Yesterday, our company released the demo for Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition, a remaster of the original Rise of the Triad PC game from 1994.

The remaster is the first project I've ever been a lead developer on, and it's a project that is very near and dear to my heart. ROTT was the first game I ever played where I felt like I could get a true glimpse of the people making the game, with all of the humor, in-jokes and fourth-wall breaking. It made game development seem _fun_, and I can't believe that I've had an opportunity to participate in bringing the game to a wider audience.

Give it a try! And if you're not a fan of blood and guts, this game allows you to turn the that stuff off.

@cinnamon oh, like, "without needing to have it open already" shortcuts? because if you mean that, flameshot includes files that set that up at different delays for a bunch of different DEs! (here's the KDE one!)

also wait, sharex did video??

so! what kinds of single board computers do people recommend now that raspberry pi isn't as great of an option?

@bx @m455 oh yeah! that can be pretty rough, ahah

but iirc, catting pcm files into it plays those fine! but /dev/audio is the devnode that respects volume control if you still have a linux that has those~

@cinnamon @noiob that's fair, honestly!

i'm mostly talking from the perspective of my own usecases, and those definitely aren't the only ones of course~

@noiob @cinnamon but for realsies, i find root is mostly for changing the system itself, rather than everyday interaction with it--and if you do need to do something that needs elevated privileges, usually user groups or isolated programs that ask for passwords themselves (and immediately drop them after) are a great way to not have footguns scattered everywhere

tl;dr - the less you touch root, the better, and finding ways to do what you need without it is suuuper-duper worth it to avoid oops

@monorail @hoppet haha, could you imagine? that there was a pokemon in this conversation?

splatoon 3

can confirm the s-blast is super-fun!

it really does use luna muscle memory, and the long range mode really does benefit from maining something that needs a lot of accuracy

Death

@SirTapTap damn... :(

it's really shaking being so close when something like that happens. it really hits home how impermanent everything is, even if things are going well

how are you holding up..?

@PsionicDoggo oh! i was probably one of those!

awoo federates only with a whitelist, so it's pretty common that moving instances doesn't move my follow~ (sorry about that!)
