@noiob it had pretty much just happened when i sent that i think!

abdl art

i tried to digitify one of my traditional draws~

@noiob ahah, for context, there is a tiny emacs-like editor i use in leiu of nano called "mg" which is really nice!

but also, there are a few limitations it has, so i basically made a script to replace it with normal emacs, configured to also be extremely fast and light in CLI, since my main reason for not using emacs itself for tiny edits is that it still has perceivable startup time~

because it's emacs itself, i don't need to remember the limitations of mg itself, and get access to things like TRAMP in it!

Show thread

so! i made a tiny shell script to replace mg (microemacs) with normal emacs, but with a secondary tiny config that files off a few of the rough edges, runs in a terminal, but is otherwise extremely fast~

it uses nothing not already included in emacs itself, has mouse support, doesn't do that annoying .# and ~ backup file thing, but otherwise is just plain emacs!

kink

@NovaSquirrel it's surprisingly common when a story centred around certain kinks actually have really meaningful and deeply touching aspects to them~

i think it's just not well-appreciated because of how most people tend to not talk about things that have kink aspects to them for fear of kink negativity and possibly imposing, and it's honestly too bad!

what's meaningful to you is legitimately meaningful in general, even if it has aspects that don't necessarily speak to everyone

basically, if you compile @Wunkolo's libsai, and install keneric, you can register .sai files as a specific mime type, make a .desktop for that mime and throw it into a place returned by kf5-config --path services, and it should just start generating if you have a keneric with

case "${mime}" in
image/x-paint-tool-sai)
/path/to/Thumbnail "${file}" "${outfile}"
exit ;;

neat! i managed to get paint tool sai thumbnails to work in linux~

linux woes

@cinnamon this looks like either something installed is mutually exclusive with plasma, or that you might have weird cache stuff happening??

(like, if apt update didn't do its thing)

oops, maybe i wasn't as happy with this one as i thought!

(i decided to try and turn it into something a little more finished~ ^^)

KDE:

Microsoft has blatantly copied us in Windows 11, and as a result, people are starting to see Plasma as a cheap clone of Windows again. (...) Making the panel float by default provides an immediate visual differentiation from Windows 11 and we hope this will help jolt users’ brains out of “ew, it’s slightly different from Windows 11” mode and into “wow, this is new and cool and I wonder what’s in it” mode.

Microsoft:

Microsoft is preparing to launch Windows 12 (...) with several new design ideas, including a new desktop experience with a ‘floating’ taskbar. Microsoft wants to create a floating effect for the taskbar by separating it from the desktop and rounding off the edges.

first draw with my new setup! (i still need to get used to krita)

@fraggle or <return>~C to open up new forwards without closing your connection! (using the same format as the cli args)

There's just one thing better than an off-by-one bug.

@technomancy it turns out that the guy is also pretty much one of the few examples of royal road being used outside of japan! which i learned turns anything into an instant "oh! i like this!" for me
