kinda-birdsite link (nitter), oshawott day art!

hee, this hash will never not make me happy

nitter.net/search?q=%23%E3%83%

but also because of timezones, oshawott day has already been a thing in japan for almost an entire day already

Show thread

it's oshawott day, and just in case my drawing motivation dries up completely and i don't post anything after i wake up today, please enjoy this early sketch

@monorail that's part of it! a lot of it is also a rhythm game competition

bms are music scripts that button-based rhythm games are based on, (like beatmania!), and events like bofu have an unreasonable number of extremely good japanese composers, both professional and hobbyist, who create music that goes with them

it's a scene that has an intersection of remix doujin circles, people who make music for games you've probably played, dedicated rhythm game composers, and a bunch of other groups!

@monorail on a more useful note, honestly, it's probably fine to follow!

even if it might come-off as for the wrong reason, they probably won't think much about it in like a week

even if they do wonder, they'll probably look at your profile and see this thread, which would explain everything

@monorail oh! that's an easy one

panic and follow, decide that was too fast and unfollow, then follow again because that probably gives the wrong idea too, then think about the situation periodically for the next two decades

selfie, ec

my girlfriend crocheted an oshawott hat for me, and it's adorable!

@aoife oh, absolutely agreed! (that's why i mentioned that last part~)

also, the difference for me is knowing at least the entirety of that vital knowledge isn't going to go up in a puff of "lol data preservation" if stack exchange ceases to exist

it's a good place for people to ask things that documentation is unclear about (or nonexistent), but as a result, that means its preservation is paramount because of just how seldomly that information finds its way back into the places it belongs

i like how i was just talking about normalizing harmless weird things, and then homestar runner just crashed through the wall like the fucken kool-aid man with two fists full of diapers

re: birdsite link to strongbad's official account, abdl (yes actually)

they're even patterned like abdl diapers, which only extremely recently got the ability to be printed in ways that weren't just repeating patterns

casual reminder that you can just like...download a copy of wikipedia

it's less than 100GB for the entire english site if you exclude videos and fullsized images, or ~50GB for text only

@aoife the one saving grace is that you can just download a copy of stack overflow

but also, that's that's 133gb of information that would really be better if it were sprinkled across the original documentation for the topics it was about

@noiob hee, thank youuu..!

honestly, i could probably literally just ctrl + c ctrl + v something from my tl here and edit it, but still

i might also try to casually write something on my plan 9 pi, since words more readily seem to flow on there too

i can't wait to literally write even a single post on here so i can add it to my bio

it's just a single post right? that should be easy right?

ha haha ha ahahahah oof

abdl, but like, an incredible domain name i'm still baffled i managed to get

as far as domains for abdl sites go, i'm still absolutely gobsmacked i managed to grab diape.red

me: i want to normalize people being weird in harmless ways
also me: literally even being perceived is petrifying

my favorite feature of the rust programming language is how you can use it to encounter communities of queer tech witches at will
