where do you go when you're done lifting something? the afterlift

and where does that take place? why, in heavin'

re: Unpopular macrophile opinion

@Dex i dont go here, but this post made me do a double take because i'm in a pmd rp where one of the main characters is a xerneas. i do agree tho

oh wait they sell gba ext port replacements. i could just get one of those and put it on a little arduino or whatever the hell

"kassy why do you want to do this"

mostly, itd be handy to be able to link the gba up to a computer or something for game-dev reasons, so i can send arbitrary Stuff over the link cable while testing out a link protocol or whatnot

it'd also be cool to be able to use something like this to link a real gba to an emulated one and e.g. trade pokémon or do multiplayer shenanigans that way

but also... i want to make a piece of music software for gba, like lsdj or whatnot but taking full advantage of the gba's power and sample mixing and stuff, and it'd be great to have a "gba-native" way to do things like import samples and export tracks. and there's only so much you can do with that when you can't connect to any devices aside from other gbas

Show thread

in particular i would eventually like to be able to make one without destroying an existing link cable

today the weird niche thing i'm looking into is what it would take to make a gba to serial link cable

@OchotonidKnight i was wondering that myself when i double checked that rekkuuza is indeed the jpn name for rayquaza. i wonder how they got from that to this

@imyxh water transfer feels like overkill for this particular case - the front shell's surface is almost entirely flat with maybe 2mm of bevel on the sides

@SnepperStepper@mastodon.social i did this already! their support hours are m-f 9-5 so maybe theyll get back to me this week

specifically i would like a way to do this that doesn't involve spending $3000 on a specialized printer

i just wanted to research options for making a custom gba shell. how did i get down a rabbit hole that goes as deep as googling "variable height inkjet nozzle"

@pup_hime @noiob apparently DAB is standard in europe and also used in australia, but only... norway, i think, has actually done an FM switchoff, and AM and FM are both still commonly used in the united states (i can't speak for elsewhere in the americas)

Here's another experiment on the #playdate simulator while I wait for my unit to arrive: Falling Sand on the framebuffer
#screenshotsaturday

my partner nerd-sniped me by showing me this post: twitter.com/ObsoleteSony/statu (image attached)

it's a Sony SRF-201 fm radio from 1985, and it's the size of a credit card and only 3mm thick. i immediately wanted to know how they got it so thin, and from staring at a picture of the internals the best i can figure is "surface-mount components and an absurdly compact circuit board design"

i don't even listen to the radio but i kind of want one because look at it
