u know a flange (generally a single piece fitting which allows a screwed/cylindrical element to attach to something else with screws or bolts)????? well one time, i didnt know what they were called, and it literally took me 45 minutes typing increasingly bizarre descriptions into google like "rod screw plate" and "tube bar connection component connector" and "orthogonal adaption threaded pipe fitting fitter"

Okay, opinions needed - self-publish this weird short story, or pitch it to somewhere? I've tried a few of the more well known SFF magazines and got nowhere.
It's a very oddball sci-fi/steampunk thing, about a couple of cowboys herding giant slugs across the plains.
...Sometimes I think the sort of stuff I write isn't what anyone is looking for.
