If you *REALLY* wanna focus on kobolds tho, go play Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide

Deekin is the best, and he is exactly where my kobold obsession began

3/5 of these - the ones that even have a concrete story - deal with learning to be compassionate or struggling with loss and negative emotions as a very core tenet of the narrative

QFG2 has Julanar - learning to empathize with someone who's gone through intense trauma and meeting them on their level
TWEWY has - well - everyone. Everyone's dead and trying to cope with it while fighting to come back to life.
BG2 deals with a destructive heritage & dealing w/ it
