@Mycroft stack overflow and reddit point systems encourage respect of contribution in a measurement of points represented by people voting on your post
it reduces your influence in the community to a number and devalues your worth to the community without being one of the higher contributors to the point of immediate disrespect if you engage in the community at lower values
