@e_Glyde there's a big difference between "i'm trying" and "this is ableist" tho

so many of the words are in common vernacular all over the place, it's hard to avoid and unlearn

intent's not magic, it never will be, but actually demonstrating you're working on it goes a long way

im not good at it, i still use some ableist words in meatspace sometimes. it's just so easy and natural so it's hard to catch myself. but im trying

@ghost@anticapitalist.party i had to ban someone kinda recently for ableism because they thought it was more important to try to get me to acknowledge they weren't ableist over apologizing for using an ableist word

people need to get that this stuff is engrained as common vernacular and just using the words doesn't mean you're choosing to be ableist, but just like every other systemic problem unless you try to do better you are
