"According to naturalism, gay doesn't work" -- an actual argument advanced by someone on the Adventure Time subreddit about why Bubblegum and Marceline can't really be a "gay" couple since they're "not even the same species."
I curse this befuddled stooge to discover the postfurry community someday. The resulting neurological damage should be very rewarding to watch.

@troodon It has a lot of different meanings, including oddly enough the literary movement that Stephen Crane and Mark Twain were a part of... but I don't think that's what our confused friend meant, either. I honestly don't think he knows what he meant.

@zebratron2084 literally the way we figured out how octopi mate came from a couple that A) turned out to be two different species, and B) gay - and in addition to that, the smaller one of the two was topping, and neither was showing any sign of distress nor resistance
if it's good enough for octopi it's good enough for cartoon people, tbh

@zebratron2084 ... isn't "naturalism" the nudist philosophy? I don't really know how else to explain it, that's literally the only context I have ever heard "naturalism" in, of people wanting to run around naked and needing some kind of pseudo-scientific rationale for it.
