@Oneironott Yeah, um... sometime have me tell you the story of *my* encounter with Coyote during a 2C-B trip. He's a bastard therapist,
with an emphasis on both words, yeah. Basically dragged me by the fangs into something approximating adulthood, and I still have the scars.

What happens if you give Equestrians access to Mushroom Kingdom technology and get Celestette, Lunette, and Chrysalette?

PRINCESS RECURSION. We're down the rabbit hole here, folks.

@mona@cybre.space Wellll, shit. I hadn't read anything about the game for several years. Looks like the machines have won: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arimaa

"In 2015, the challenge was won decisively by the computer (Sharp by David Wu), with top players agreeing that computers had become better at the game than humans."

@mona@cybre.space I'm curious if you're familiar with Arimaa at all? I haven't played it, but it was talked up on the BGG community for a while. IIRC it was explicitly developed as a game that would use the classic set of chess pieces but be unusually difficult for AI players to master relative to human ones. I have no clue if it's ever caught on, let alone spawned an online play community, though...

This paragraph hurt a lot to read, 'cause I think it applies to sisters, too.

re: parallax

Also, I promise this story will end up with a Happy Ending eventually, for some bizarre, psychedelic, and thoroughly inhuman definition of "happy." =^__^=

re: parallax

Like, I probably drew more from the separation anxiety, frustration, and disenchantment of the past year than is probably strictly healthy, especially with an intended audience of ages 14-18.

Oh, well, they have to learn sooner or later: love is a lie, people you care about change right out from underneath you and there's nothing to be done but moving on, and there are some strains that no friendship can possibly stand--even if you think you're immortal. -_-

parallax

The good news: I finally got past a major case of writer's block and wrote up the climax of the Mixolyne ("pretty goth fungus-druids") side of the story.

The bad news: I had to really stick the emotional knife into a very sweet ponyboy and birdboy, and twist it really hard, in order to do it. I'm starting to wonder if this story isn't going a little dark, but let's face it, there are mostly only dark emotional ingredients laying about these days. *shrug*
