thought about LRB, corporate intrusion, the history of exploitation in general
I wonder how many colonization efforts started with "oh, don't mind us, we're just friendly strangers, here to trade and farm peacefully!"
I wonder how much we can learn, as basically Internet indigenes*, from that history. What separated nations like Japan, Thailand, and (mostly) Ethiopia from those that got occupied? Should we be pulling the equivalent of Tokugawa's closing of ports to all European powers who wouldn't play ball?
It sure sounds like a good idea to me-- if we have something they want, it seems like the thing to do is keep it as far away from their ugly grasping mitts as possible. And fire on them if they approach, no matter how much they're offering.
*Zero disrespect intended to actual real-world indigenes, whose situation is infinitely more dire than ours could ever be. But the general process of "we were here first, but nobody gave a shit 'cause we were in the way" seems to have some meaningful strategic similarities. And man, do I feel like a Polish cavalryman facing down a German Panzer these days... *sigh*
Some thoughts I had a while back about corporate instances (2/2)
Our content and social interactions is the equivalent of labour to them, and 'striking' indefinitely by taking it away from their reach not just undermines their motivations but the entire project of exploiting this kind of system. It makes this ecosystem inhospitable to them.
Some thoughts I had a while back about corporate instances (1/2)
Corporations owning instances is more than just 'they are intrinsically not well suited to making a place habitable for real people'.
If a corporation has an instance, it means they don't just treat their instance as a business venture, but all the social connections coming off of it that make it thrive, which includes us too.

I GET TO EDIT AND PROOFREAD ALL DAY LONG! ^____________^
(This also implies that I now formally have TEAMMATES to help me slog through all this new grading work. Our 1st Mumbai-team recruit is really good and sharp, but there's a lot of culturally fraught grammatical correction to do. It needs a gentle hand, and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. ^_____^ )
re: Size, bunny girl, nsfw, drawing
@001zlnv yes, ten in this size and model, assorted colors plz
@Austin_Dern Your distant great(x46)-grand-niece Kirschbär notes, "You'd think that matter replication would have done something for our tastes here in the 23rd century. But we just ended up making more interesting trash, and more interesting digestive systems that can properly appreciate its nuances..."

Epilogue:
Bed won. See ya either here or there, but I recommend there, by the pool.
mood (-), news, bad ideas, dreams, kink
I really should not have started the morning by looking at the world outside my own house. But reading social media is what I do first thing in the morning, and it's going to take a while to break that habit. I keep forgetting the Internet is no longer my weird, exciting friend.
And if I hadn't gotten up and risked a glimpse at that online pseudo-reality, I would've just gotten stuck in the pseudo-reality I was fleeing in the first place: vivid dreams of rubber-clad furries at a con, frolicking in a huge swimming pool in glimmering sunlight.
Frankly, right now I'd rather be confronted with images of the collapsing real world outside than the beautiful imaginary one that always existed one inch beyond my grasp, and kept getting yanked away.
I'd rather stare into the abyss than the sun today, thanks. Easier on the eyes.
@JulieSqveakaroo Yaaaay! *mauls CEO*
re: Postfurry is dead; long live postfurry.
@Oneironott @Aradia It STILL blows my mind that the Neptunians were the breakaway faction that survived everything else... :)
@kobi_lacroix We FINALLY have internet at home so I am a lot more likely to show up on Telegram in the coming week!
@kobi_lacroix It's like, we're supposed to be the good guys here. If we want the badge of intellectual superiority, we DON'T earn it just by being on the 'right' side and never questioning yourself. That's how 'They' think, isn't it-- that's what other leftists keep telling me. So shouldn't we at least be *attempting* to do better?
But apparently not,. *shrug* Barring some major new innovation in memetic hygiene in the next 20 years (which I do think is not unlikely)... we're so fucked. >_<
@Felthry I have seen that speculated and I haven't seen it confirmed, but I'll admit I didn't really care one way or the other about this film until there was a threat of overworking their animators! n.n; So I'm open to new information about it, I genuinely don't know.
@kobi_lacroix EXACTLY. That's exactly the problem I keep running into, even when I preface my comments with stuff like "OK, guys, I lean a little to the left of Howard Zinn, but..."
@kobi_lacroix I have started falling back on a nice simple "This is why we can't have nice things" in response to bad political memes on Reddit. Just a faint reminder that there is something less than optimal about all this intellectual comfort food. >_<
@kobi_lacroix Yeah, the left has a real unnerving "Surely not *us*! We're the *good* guys! Who do you *really* work for?" streak whenever it's criticized for misbehavior. I have tried to fight that tooth and claw, but usually I just get called a Stormfront infiltrator or a shitlord and get downvoted into the abyss. >_____<
OK, I'm just gonna put a fine point on it.
If it really is true that they're driving the animators into a death march to redesign Sonic for the movie...
PLEASE DON'T SEE THE GODDAMN MOVIE.
Like, I'm begging you. Like, I might actually be genuinely angry at you if you do. Nobody should have to suffer like this for a cheap goddamn media tie-in. >_<
uspol, media, eggs
Good lord, even the eggs on Fox News are fake.
