@Leucrotta Oh, man, that was a bit of a shock to my system because I LOVED L5R when it was just a card game, and the ornate changing world was a bit part of that. But in retrospect, yeah, SUPER problematic Western "oriental adventures" cultural tourism, a real shallow go at being anything remotely resembling Japanese. Reminds me a lot of some of the EXECRABLE worldbooks that were published for the Torg RPG. (The Japanese on the cover of the Nippon Tech splatbook was REVERSED ffs... *sigh* )

@Leucrotta I could see a decent world with a decent place for cars, but... yeah, it's kinda the same way I could see a healthy planet with a healthy place for humans. There'd have to be about 80-90% LESS of them. >_<

Heh. The first chapter of my YA space opera owed most of its mood to Fargo and Godzilla by way of a Culture novel. The second one's shaping to taste a little bit like The Thing, Upstream Color, Better Call Saul, and Goodfellas. This is gonna be a weird, weird ride, kids...

New Orleans is resolutely normal today, including the vast amount of work I have to do, the "feels like 90°" weather, and the air being so thick with tree spooge my throat hurts.

You know, given the alternate timelines I've glimpsed in the last week... I'll take it and I'll love it. But I'll still reduce my lifespan by a couple weeks with a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit.
