"[T]o carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up." -- CS Lewis

re: WApol

@001zlnv Also, if it's any consolation, I sat there for like a full 2-3 minutes before I posted, paralyzed with anxiety about exactly how to stylize WApol (i.e. caps, no caps, camel caps, one word, two words...)

okay, anxiety might be a little strong-- paralyzed with sincere pedantry

re: WApol

@001zlnv (previous toot about waluigi redacted, realized it made no sense; it's my weekend as of an hour ago and i am stoned as fuck n.n; )

WApol

That's what I thought, you astroturfing scumbags. Knew it the moment I saw your disingenuous little commercial.

Guess I'm voting Yes on 1631.

comics; tv; regret

I still hope we're going to meet again in the Supercontext, like Grant Morrison promised.

I always loved how TV shows like Danger 5 and Strangers With Candy would end with a big dance number or cocktail party during the closing credits. They'd have the entire cast there, in character, regardless of who was living or dead, friend or foe, just having a big party.

Maybe the afterlife will be like that.

Maybe if it is, I'll skip the party and hang out on the Cosmic Porch anyway.

what the fuck am i doing up at 7 am

why have i already done a full hour of work

why on earth would a tiger even have a morning, none of my food is awake yet

what the fuck is happening to me

@anthracite You didn't draw anything because you were doing 5-D architecture instead ffs. I wouldn't sweat it too much. <3

mood/psych (~)

God, my emotions are supercharged today for some reason. Maybe it's the caffeine, but I've been from a 1 to 10 and everything in between, and back, several times today. If it keeps up, maybe I'll mention it when I see my doctor, but... cripes, I think today's just been a bit of a roller coaster. At least I'm getting a huge amount of work done.

re: Thought on S1 The Good Place

@Aradia Don't say that until you've seen S2 and S3. You have no forking idea. :D

mood snapshot

“I think you should kill him and eat his brain," Mr. Frostee said quickly.

"That's not the answer to every problem in interpersonal relations," Cobb said, hopping out.

re: Civ V shitpost

@troodon @001zlnv Yup, that's exactly how you handle Shaka. Say "you and I are pals forever" but say it with a great big rock in your hand. O:)

Today's is simmering right there in my slow cooker:

four cans of fiery chipotles, a lot of fermented things, and a can of hominy

fierce and complicated, yet kinda corny, just like me

re: media (cw: ultra-ultra-grim black "comedy")

I do, on the other hand, think we should round up alt-righties by the hundreds of thousands, force them into cinemas to watch this film Ludovico-style, and then feed them each a cookie and let (what's left of) them go home.

REINFORCEMENT: THIS IS AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF FILM BUT ABSOLUTELY YOU SHOULD NOT WATCH IT IF YOU ARE ALREADY DEPRESSED OR DESPAIRING.

I realize this will probably rule out a good half of us. :( Me, I'm having a pretty good day and am finding myself in kind of a "diagnose the problem, grab a needle, bite a leather strap, and lance the boil" kind of mood, which Härlig är Jorden suits very neatly.

Be warned. This is a beautiful film, but only via its utter bleakness. There is a core of grim humanity to it, and its satirical intentions are totally humanistic and noble, but there is nothing fun here at all.

Be warned that it opens with a scene of a non-graphic but harrowing act of genocide. It gets better from there, but is never pretty. I share it because it's timely and important, not because it's at all pleasant.

re: media; possible memetic hazard

@Balinares I honestly can't tell you where I found it, because I can't recall, and I'm a bit worried about that fact now. O_o;

(I'm guessing one of the usual linkfarms...)

re: Civ V shitpost

@001zlnv @troodon Based on my own C5 experience, no, surprisingly chill Shaka is basically just regular Shaka with a better-concealed knife. If he offers you a drink at the diplomatic summit, pour it in the nearest planter when he's not looking. >_<

re: Civ V shitpost

@troodon Man fuck that guy. Even when he's beating up on your enemies, fuck that guy. >_<
