Awwww. I debunked a local woman's worries that the bike thieves she chased off were going to come back to slaughter her family or something, and it apparently worked. (Among other things, I noted that bike thieving is not exactly a high-ambition career, and threatening potential witnesses, compared to just fucking off to another neighborhood, would be WORK...)
She thanked me and called me a "cheeky devil," which I am gonna treasure for days. =^____^=
Current activity: rewatching Nathan Barley in preparation for Patrecon.
It's funny, when it came out, the critics panned it for missing the boat on IT-bubble culture. But in retrospect, what it actually did is predict Youtube click-hustler culture. The pundits' mistake was thinking the collapse of the economy was going to get rid of these people. Nathan is basically just Pewdiepie v0.1, with a nicer phone. -_-
re: Patrecon
@001zlnv I'm flattered somebody remembered that throwaway line. ^_^

re: Patrecon
@Phorm Waaay ahead of you, hun. :D I am not ashamed to say I registered for at least one event, giggling all the while, purely because it offered a free lunch. 🐯
re: Patrecon
@Phorm Hey, I'm only dropping in to see what condition my condition is in. <3
re: Patrecon
(If any of you have seen Lodge 49-- and I recommend you do-- let's just say I've already told Peggy I intend to "Dud it up" something fierce at this con. :) If I come across as some kind of Holy Fool who just kinda got in as a fluke and doesn't really belong there... Working As Intended, baby.)
re: Patrecon
So basically, I'm anticipating feeling like the Slacker Barbarians At The Gates through the whole con.
I can totally deal with this. There's a lot to gain and nothing to lose, really. So my current plan is to pack a bathrobe, get a White Russian from the bar as soon as I get there, and play up my Dudeness as much as possible. I have absolutely NO fear of coming off as a hilarious low-rent outsider there, and if anybody has anything to fear, it's them. :D
Patrecon
On one hand, this is pretty awesome, I won't lie. :D As far as I can tell, we had to pass at least _some_ hurdle to get a free membership and hotel room out of these people. (I don't _think_ we just got picked out of a hat?) For a con that was invite-only to start with, that's pretty awesome...
On the other, ugh, their event site is so full of Monetization, Disruption, and Self-Branding gorp. It's clearly NOT aimed at small, static-medium creators like Peg and me...
Popping in to leave this Reggie Watts song. I'm pretty sure I've linked to it before, but it feels like the sort of song you just can't remind people of too often. There are a lot of good ideas here, a LOT of them, and if you're feeling down or stressed over interpersonal stuff, I can't recommend it (or Reggie in general) highly enough.
Love y'all. Don't kill each other please. n.n;
@JulieSqveakaroo This explains SO MUCH about me. Sorry about that, @anthracite...
There is a specific thing common to many Midwesterners in that they view silence as awkward and must fill it with conversation. The subject could be anything, because its just kind of an excuse to prattle on, over share, give unsolicited advice, or complain.
If you are a qviet individual, then you will get folks going out of their way to come talk at you... frequently.
I find it incredibly annoying, but am usually too polite to say so.

re: trivial Parallax spoilers; cute space dog
@Balina Oh my gosh. *blush* You made my whole week.
Peg, incidentally, wants to know if we can give you a cameo or anything. ^__^
re: trivial Parallax spoilers; cute space dog
@Balina Peg also says thanks! <3
