uspol, covid, elections, anxiety
2nd biggest fear right now:
COVID-19 is contained due to good local and medical response, and never turns into a major issue. Like Y2K all over again, we beat something that WOULD have been a disaster if we hadn't dealt with it...
And Trump takes it as vindication that it was never really a threat in the first place, even if we really were in serious danger and just RESOLVED it without his bumbling "help."
And he uses it all to vindicate his conspiracy theories about Fake News and easily rides to victory in 2024 as America is, completely counterfactually, convinced he was right all along.
Or even worse: leftists are put in the posiiton of having to silent cheer for COVID-19 fatalities just to keep Trump from pulling the aforementioned shit, and we get caught at it, and they spin it into evidence that We Are Evil Plague-Bringers And Must Be Destroyed, maybe even use it to back rumors that we were spreading it on purpose Just To Hurt Poor Little Persecuted Donnie.
I don't think these are necessarily rational fears. I think there's a fair chance that we'll get through COVID-19 fine AND Trump will offer plenty of convincing evidence that he was never prepared to deal with a real public safety issue.
Just... be prepared to pivot on this one if this does turn out to, plague gods willing, fizzle.
@hystericempress It's a deal! :D
@JulieSqveakaroo Beeeen there! I started keeping a health journal for little frets like that, and it's done wonders being able to look back at all the times I did not die from eating pink turkey and all the "tumors" that turned out to be zits. n.n;
@hystericempress I get 10% of any tournament purses. :D
re: hot take, anthropophagy
FWIW, I am full of preservatives and am probably only suited for New Soylent Lite.

re: and now a word from our sponsor
To be fair, the raccoons at the Audubon Zoo are probably more like the equivalents of my ex-girlfriend's libertarian shithead filker friends who all worked in IT and lived in Bellevue... They're all fed and vaccinated and probably have the worst 'i got MY shinies, fuck you" attitude... They're still good conversation though. =(^)_(^)=
re: and now a word from our sponsor
@001zlnv Oh, right, I've seen that one! It's That One Guy's 1p rpg. I like him. :D
@hystericempress Gimme 2-3 months to get my shit together and I'll probably be ready to start sharing the wealth. <3 On top of my new 40 hr cap, if I'm reading correctly, I'm getting a 10% raise(!!) and a $750 bonus. I have no excuse not to help my poor-ass siblings in need.
re: and now a word from our sponsor
@001zlnv I WOULD PLAY THE FUCK OUT OF THAT PS4 TITLE
re: tech; snark; peeve
Haha, just kidding!
I was planning on setting everybody on fire anyhow.

re: tech; snark; peeve
Also, if anybody pops up to tell me that it's because I'm somehow doing my Duckduckgo searches wrong, and I need to adjust to the quirks of a service I didn't want to use to begin with... Fire Will Come Upon You. :)
tech; snark; peeve
OK, the Duckduckgo evangelists are now officially as bad as the Linux evangelists in my book.
Yes, they're the completely morally and ethically su[;erior option. They're also the option that totally misses the goal of my search more often than not. I'll keep using what actually works for now, thanks. I'd love to switch someday, but that decision will be made *inversely* to the amount of nagging I get from smug tech purists, or as I like to call them: "infovegans." O:p
shenanigans, reddit, bad ideas, uspol-adjacent
The troll I was smarting off to, when pressed, admitted that he mostly did what he was doing because he was bored... and because he was still learning English and that's been a fun way to practice.
And I am forced to admit that this is not only kind of cool, next time I want to pick up a language I might figure out where their MAGA equivalents hang out online. O:)
re: covid, furry, random silly idea, opportunity
@typhlosion No, I like that! Or a variety thing--some art streams, some gaming, maybe a furry TED talk to two. :)
food, foodcrime, silly, queer
I wish we lived in the sort of world where one could consistently expect a rainbow-colored layer cake were in fact individually flavored like strawberry, orange, lemon, lime, blueberry, and grape. What a waste. Food coloring is not truly festive nor does it represent the diversity of our community. Get with the program, American patissiers.
covid, furry, random silly idea, opportunity
So it looks like a lot of conventions and other important furry gatherings are likely to get canceled this year. Now, there's nothing we can do about the economic hit that's going to cause our community, but how about the social hit?
Maybe there's something we can do to compensate, like set up 1-3 day chat parties and have an excuse to socialize a little, maybe do something a little more special and focused than the usual social media chitchat, from the safety of our homes?
Just a random thought. I'd be willing to put some degree of energy into this if other people are.
re: A CONfounding issue, that damn virus (~)
@Phorm My advice: stay home and let us know a couple days in advance what days it was going to be, so your friends here can stock up on silk, bangles, and lamp polish and made sure you have proper distractions. <3
