life goals: a study in game logic

Tiger victory condition, age 23: "slay the boss"

Tiger victory condition, age 33: "complete my main quest"

Tiger victory condition, age 43: "escape (read: 'perish from this shithole') with as much enemy loot as possible"

checklist; implicit uspol; implicit violence

[✓] jolly roger painted and hoisted
[ ] grave of HL Mencken pissed upon despite him having that one good quote

Five minutes later, the cheetah and gazelle met up behind a bush. "$150, usual rate." "Well worth the price. Thanks, Charlie, that was a close one."

This paragraph hurt a lot to read, 'cause I think it applies to sisters, too.

Also, I promise this story will end up with a Happy Ending eventually, for some bizarre, psychedelic, and thoroughly inhuman definition of "happy." =^__^=

re: parallax

Like, I probably drew more from the separation anxiety, frustration, and disenchantment of the past year than is probably strictly healthy, especially with an intended audience of ages 14-18.

Oh, well, they have to learn sooner or later: love is a lie, people you care about change right out from underneath you and there's nothing to be done but moving on, and there are some strains that no friendship can possibly stand--even if you think you're immortal. -_-

parallax

The good news: I finally got past a major case of writer's block and wrote up the climax of the Mixolyne ("pretty goth fungus-druids") side of the story.

The bad news: I had to really stick the emotional knife into a very sweet ponyboy and birdboy, and twist it really hard, in order to do it. I'm starting to wonder if this story isn't going a little dark, but let's face it, there are mostly only dark emotional ingredients laying about these days. *shrug*

Furry ain't getting any more mainstream than this.

(Mr. Fischoeder, the landlord from Bob's Burgers. This, um, isn't uncharacteristic behavior from him, actually.)

bad kitty stuff

One of the great joys of the internet furry culture: finding out that two people you separately loathed for totally separate reasons are actually just different names for the same selfish piece of shit. ^__^

(Someone who was pointlessly mean to Peg once turned out to be the same person who alienated most of a forum I was on with various forms of Social Justice Axe-Murderer behavior. I'm all happy now: technically, that's one less person to hate, and don't we all want that? 😺)

history; snark

I present you with that most modern of medieval conventions, the hunger stone:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunger_s

It's dour. It's doomful. It provides absolutely no useful, actionable information besides "you're screwed." It directs its sarcasm towards all the wrong people. And it's unaware that by its very existence, it actually rests as proof that history marched on and we were NOT in fact all killed by drought.

In other words, it's medieval leftist Twitter.

uspol (+ if doing a lot of difficult work sounds more appealing than doomsaying)

"It would be naive to depend on the Supreme Court to defend the rights of poor people, women, people of color, dissenters of all kinds. Those rights only come alive when citizens organize, protest, demonstrate, strike, boycott, rebel, and violate the law in order to uphold justice." -- progressive.org/op-eds/howard-

Zinn has a real good point there. Progress was going to come from us, not the system, no matter what.

re: uspol-adjacent; education; philistines; vent; probably don't read; possibly-fantasy violence

God, and the blurbs are just an endless parade of shitty people from the AEI and Cato.

I need to spend about a week immersed in the company of people who aren't like him, but... well... that has its own complications right now, and it's all depressing as fuck, and... I think I'm going back to bed. -_-

Wanna shank this reductionist shit. Leave it to an economist to dismiss the ideal of an educated polity with some critical thinking skills as "romantic notions about education being 'good for the soul.'" I guess I could expect no better, since this POS Brian Caplan clearly has no soul of his own to feed.

I wrote him a very nasty letter. Maybe actionable, in this day and age, I don't know. I don't care.

re: subtoot

(disclaimer: i realize these are kinda edgeplay but i promise they're just jokes and have no target -- tiger is super-grumpy and needs to snark at SOMETHING, even if that something is [null])
