I just wrote an entire scene of Parallax by putting deliberately stilted dialogue through EVERY language in Google Translate and back around to, um, "English."

I don't know if this is going to be any good, but god, has it been fun to write. XD

There are times when you can empty your soul on Mastodon and there are times where all you get to do is nod your head at the world and go... "Yup."

Everything else is good, it's just a little tinge of melancholy under everything.

To be perfectly honest with you, I got a new PC courtesy of @ElectricKeet so my main mood right now is more like "YAY NEW TOY" mixed with "goddammit when will steam finished downloading my games."

Any pressing social or emotional issues are about to be drowned in, like, six hours of Deathstate and Forced Showdown. XD

I dunno. Today was undeniably a pretty good day. I just got a little bit of information that's going to be hard to digest. No bad feelings, except for an awful sense of zugzwang.

It's just stuff that plays with fears of mine a little, and I've been feeling a little sensitized all afternoon. I just wish I knew how the hell to make any of this right, and in the meantime I'm just kind of pensive and listening to music.

Holy fuck, corporate-franchise comics continuity is a glorious mess. Can you imagine what it'll look like in 20 years?

I desperately want to play with this stuff. I want a storygame RPG that's all about making one of these glorious multiversal messes. (Maybe a Decrypting Rita SRPG? 🤔 )

And it also makes me wonder if we might see more of this phenomenon. People taking up characters who got exiled from canon, and letting them live on as a wandering tourist of the Internet. Or even, within a few years, setting up bots from quote databases. Just one more thing to weaken that membrane between stories...

And it got me thinking about the literary potential of the Internet and the kind of shared artisanal reality we postfurry and fannish types excel in. I like the idea of a character who unjustly gets killed, but then gets to live out a perfectly rich fulfilling life in memes & fanlore---because they meant something to us they didn't to their creators.

Guess I just like the way it would all play with notions of what "canon" means--a topic on which most fandom really NEEDS to be challenged, IMO.

So, somebody on Reddit was goofing around on a thread and pretended to be a CSR named "Barbara." Someone else started riffing on her as if she were Barb from Stranger Things, and started asking her about the Upside-Down.

"Barb" started playing along. Now they've filled up most of the page with chitchat about this whole scenario where Barb is sharing a room with the monsters and has run tape down the floor, sitcom hijinx style... (con't)

This is amazing. About 40% of my dream content consists of exploring little interstitial secret spaces like this, and if you're REALLY nice, I might tell you what some of my private mental ones look like. They absolutely fascinate me in real life, too.
